Haha, I totally understand. I'm only at ~22 weeks, but we've had this heatwave in SoCal for the last month or so, and temps have been in the low to mid 90's very consistently, with plen-ty of humidity thrown in. Very uncomfortable, and I'm still somewhat small at this point.

after reading this entire thread and some of Galaxee's and Godiva's choices I might suggest the best thing to do is stop two complete strangers (men) on the street and ask them what their names are and run with that

BZZZTT...as one whose maiden name is Frank...and who lived in Canada from 4th grade (or grade 4, for the Canucks out there, Hiya Hyo...think, among other things, Franco American Spagettios...) AND DH is HANK, which is actually, in this case, short for HAROLD (don't ask), and HE is getting pissed off because MY old friends now think HIS name is FRANK...Frank, we will forgive you for this thought. It came with your Y chromosome.

McDonald's, Taco Bell, and Subway. Oh, and pepperoni pizza from Round Table with extra pepperoni and extra sauce. Yummies!! But I do drink a lot of water throughout the day, and eat a good amount of fruit. I've layed off eating my usual snacks of candy, chips and baked goods and have been eating instead granola bars, fig newtons and those 100-calorie Smart Pop microwave popcorn bags.

Ewwwww. That's not food. And why are you eating popcorn bags? Surely there's more nutrition in the popcorn? :D

Not quite Hawaiian, but a cool name from the Phillipines is Lapu Lapu. He was the first to resist the Spanish explorers/conquerors and killed Magellan, so he's now a folk hero in that country.

It would be useful knowing the last name, for interaction purposes. I had an aunt, last name Case, expecting a baby so naturally I recommended Justin. For some reason they declined on that.

I like the name Jack, but it can lead to confusion. In 9th grade someone asked me if my Uncle Jack helped me off a horse, would I help my uncle jack off a horse? Well, my Uncle Jack has horses, so I said I would, but he was better with horses than I was and probably wouldn't need any help. I was a tad confused by the response that followed. But that was a rare instance. I don't personally know any Jacks being given grief over their name. BTW, did you see the Simpson flashback episode where Homer decides what kind of name to give his son? There could be perils in any name, but some are gimme's. If it's too common a name, chances are they'll end up with a nickname anyway.

Well, I do not know any Hawaiian names but how about some Japanese names? We named our son Takeshi (which means brave). Most people for some reason cannot pronounce it (even though it is phonetic) so they just call him TK. Other names that was a posibility were Tadashi (my name, means honest) and Kojiro (not sure about meaning). We also looked at nicknames which would be Tad and Koji, respectively. We also tried to see if it could be twisted around to make fun of him and they seemed pretty safe. There is also Taisho, Kanae (Cah-nah-e), or Kintaro (~first born).

How about Ikaika, means strong, we have two friends kids who have that name and are now at Kamehameha high school in Honolulu. Very cool. Congratulations.

Because my in-laws aren't Japanese, they're Hawaiian (at least, my father in law and his immediate family are). His family is originally of Portuguese/Filipino descent from several generations back, but have been living on the island of Oahu for at least 5 generations now. It's become family tradition to carry on with a Hawaiian middle name...such it is that a Japanese name just won't cut it for us. :)

do not know about the contest. Jack? You out there somewhere?

Otherwise the pregnancy is going just fine. Less than 4 months to go, and hopefully it'll go quickly. We got all registered for baby stuff last night. Talk about stressful. DH and I are equally clueless when it comes to kids/babies and their care. We had to call my mom to come over and help us pick stuff out, as well as constantly bugging the sales associates. What a headache! I never want to step foot into another baby-related store again!! I'm glad we decided to only have 1 kid...I could never do this again.

I did it right the first time so I figured I should stick with 1 as well. The last month could make up for the 1st 8 though....apologise to DH beforehand!!

When you get to due date you will be glad to live in SoCal. It was snowing on 1/29/77 when my daughter made her entrance and for most of December and January it was VERY difficult to find a coat to encompass that belly.

Keep active, have fun and stay safe!

The second is much easier, both for the child and the parents. Not that you even want to think about it right now, I understand. :D

There will be no second...if he doesn't get 'fixed' then I will, after using a long term contraceptive such as an IUD. He knows this. We compromised on 1, so 1 it will be. I initially didn't even want any, so 1 is a huge step for me in the first place!! I think 1 will most definitely be more than enough for the both of us to handle!! :D

Well after 9 loooong months my baby boy is finally here, as of 2 weeks ago.

Tyler Kekoa M.... made his appearance at 8:29pm on Dec 2 weighing 7lbs8oz and 20" long, after 30 hours of labor that didn't accomplish a whole lot, and finally an emergency c-section.

We spent the first 4 days in the hospital and they finally let us leave on Dec 6 so we've been home ever since, and getting used to things with the new addition. I'm healing up nicely, hopefully will be back to normal soon (I've never had surgery before other than my wisdom teeth extraction!) and at his first pediatrician appt yesterday it was confirmed that he's up to 8lbs even and healthy as ever.

    :)
