I have no idea how to pronounce Humuhumunukunukuapuaa, and I likely never will. No disrespect for your favourite word, Rufaro, but I think you're right, it might not make a good name. I fear the kids in his class might never know how to pronounce his name, either, and he'd get called something else. Like who-moon-who, or maybe hummer. Not good.

Then of course, there is Rufaro...which is a Shona (Zimbabwean tribe) word that means "sublime happiness and contentment." By the way. And is lots easier to pronounce than humuhumuetc....
I like traditional names, not anything to "soap opera-y" or trendy (Dylan fits that category). Family names are cool. If I were naming a boy, it would be one of the following: Eric, David, Hal, Harrison, Winston, Hart, or Layton.
Shall we have a "worst name" contest within the Best Name? Lawrence (Larry) Richard (too many Dick jokes ) Trent Jason Arthur (sorry, Artie!) Bruce (sorry, Dude!) Dylan George Raymond Dirk (erk) Samuel Garth Irving Lester Justin Dustin (both overworked) Seth Louis (saints excepted) Hubert Henry Horace Humphrey Ignatius (Iggy) Grover Moe

Jack's not a bad name. It's better than "Ghost." I would like to add the name Jasper to my previous list.

It doesn't have to be Jack. It could be Jackson. And the name can never be shortened. I.E. parents always call him Jackson. When being introduced he is introduced as Jackson. He can let his friends know he is Jackson, not Jack. I know a Valentine who does not go by Val. Everyone who knows him uses his full name: Valentine.

That's a fact, Jack. Didn't think about that. Make a new plan, Stan. Don't need to be coy, Roy Just hop on the bus, Gus. Don't need to discuss much....

Some of the names that made our finalist list when attempting to name our son: Theo Hank (short for Henry) Jonathan Andrew (my husband has a relative named Andrew Jackson ______) Paul (not a fave of mine, but hubby liked it and it was his grandfather) We ended up naming him Owen, which I really love. Good luck picking a name and I hope the pregnancy is going well!

No one suggested the obvious answer. It is her first born son, thus Prius is a most appropriate name.
