I'd be willing to pay up to $200 without issue to get Apple Carplay in my current Prius. It was never something I wanted or cared about. I didn't like or really use entune but had a rental car not long ago with Carplay in it. Over the course of about 500 miles on the roads of North Dakota I completely fell in love with CarPlay. I'm not willing to get into a new carpayment for it, but I'd really like it in my Prius. I have no idea if the hardware in my car is capable of running it but I would jump at the chance if Toyota sold me an update. Or if there was a clean aftermarket solution I'd be interested in that as well.

I'll wait until it works on a BlueTooth connection.
The way I understand it now is it requires the SmartDevice be attached
via a cable. At least in other vehicles.
    Correct me if I'm wrong.

You’re correct. The only wireless CarPlay unit is the one found in the latest BMW vehicles (within the last year or two)

Well, I gave feedback- to the dealer, to Toyota when they had me fill out an online survey as well as a follow up phone call: “entune is difficult and disappointing, 1 star.” Even Consumer reports labeled the interface “convoluted.” I think Toyota listened- the 2018 Primes do have a smaller screen. I am 100% sure Toyota Corp they won’t chase down a few thousand Prime owners and demand to spend time and money increasing wine satisfaction. During the “sudden acceleration” issue when there was an NTSB investigation the most they did was issue a bulletin. We’re stuck.

Wireless car play is actually available in quite a few after market radio systems already, its just pretty expensive. I believe the cheapest I have seen is a 500 Dollar radio. But you cant really swap out that tablet in the prime so it doesn't really matter, unless they can add software support for it.

Am I missing something? The Toyota site still lists the 2018 Prius Prime as having the same 11.6" screen.
