It's become SOP to use dashcams in Russia. I went over there to work on a project a while ago and it was nuts. People around town would learn to recognize the cars without dashcams to target for insurance fraud. Cops acted differently during checkpoint stops. We were there about a week before everyone in the company with a rental car was issued a dashcam and terse instructions to use it at all times. That was about 4 years ago. I understand that now, Russian insurance companies simply will not settle claims unless there is supporting video. It may take a while to get here, but it's coming.
