When they came out with the Aqua, they used the same drivetrain on the Yaris (sold in Japan too).
What Toyota global and regional marketing teams do, is a mystery to me. Some hybrid models sold in Europe like the Auris back in the day, were not sold in the hybrid versions in Japan. And the other way around. In Germany, where it NEVER rains, they offered the rain-sensing wipers, as an option (!!) on the Prius - starting only on the middle-trim level. The Gen5 Prius in the USA, doesn't offer automatic lights on the base trim. Yet, it has TSS3.0 standard. As a YouTuber aptly commented: "this car can essentially drive itself, yet you don't get automatic lights". Which at this point I would consider a safety feature.

    And so on, it goes.

I mean, you have Hyundai selling their "most efficient" EV Ioniq 6 with compulsory 20" wheels if you want what most other companies sell as standard equipment, starting from the mid-trim (the base-trim is a joke) and lose 20% range with it (305mi down from 361mi). You cannot even get smaller, more efficient wheels, as an option on the more expensive trims... (this is one of the reasons I decided not to look at it anymore - I liked the range, I hated their trim policy that essentially pushes you to get the highest trim to get features standard elsewhere, and lose 20% range on wheels I don't care at all about).

Yeah... But buying brand new cars with all their rip-off trim level pricing is what worker zombies do... They never have time to enjoy all the money they make so they buy brand new cars at ridiculously inflated prices. If they had more time to learn about car reliability and values they'd realize that buying a 2 to 3 year old car from a private seller/owner saves you massively. So much so you can afford to put the highest MPG wheels and tires on the car, as well as make all the other modifications you want and you'll still spend less money than buying new.

"End of lease" cars are a bargain too. Well maintained and checked out by the dealer.

I feel rather lucky to have gotten my car within 5 months from my deposit.
