This is what kept me away from the Civic hybrid. The Gen 1 had such a high cvt failure rate that after the second or third one Honda would replace them free of charge. I work with a guy that traded off his when his second transmission started to go. I think he had under 150k on the car. Gears good. Belt bad.
The Civic CVT has a dipstick. That's one nice thing I can say about it. Was driving our ex, just this week. It's still ok at 160000+ km's, but definitely a less refined beast.
