I assume just like the gas tank it is a bit pessimistic on it's estimations. My experience is somewhat similar.

yes, i typically go further than the estimate, so i'm not sure what else is involved. maybe they keep it artificially low so you won't run out of electrons. or perhaps it's devalued by temp.

I get keeping the miles remaining artificially low so you don't run out of gas but EV estimated range ?
That one seems easy - average recent drives maybe a bit more weight to most recent...

On a plus note my 2nd tank just exceeded my first tank of 4330 miles. Almost 4400 with 2 gas bars left now
One fill-up from March through Dec .... amazing car

    Nice!

Where do you live? Will be interesting to see if you can get by with no heat this winter.

I go considerably less than the estimate under most conditions. I think that the EV mode does great if you are in stop-start conditions. If you just want to go out and drive a set distance, and the route includes anything like hills or speeds above ~40mph, you are going to have a hard time exceeding the estimates.

Fortunately most of my trips on EV are way less than the total capacity, so the end effect is that it doesn't matter much to me. I just need to plug in a little more frequently.

    -8°F here this morning.

Today's 17 mile commute logged 9 miles as EV.

128 MPG was the end result.

You do realize that even on a 2 seat V8 truck you wouldn't even get heat in 2.7 miles right?

I drive out of a 45 degree garage, drive fast to coffee, hold breath and run into Hardee's! Spend three hours warming up and repeat trip home, but car is alot colder going home!
I'm purple all over from holding my breath........... or is it the cold temps?
