It's already in production, isn't it?

And I think the DOT recently approved for its use in the US so earlier i8s didn't have laser lights if you were to buy one today, it should be available.

Additionally, the maximum lumens allowable in the US is lower than in Europe so even though it may be the same laser headlights, it is dimmer than what is available in the US.

I think the worst offender is the NB Escalade. It's LED headlights are blinding.

    Yes, the I8 has them.

I have 2016 VW Tuerag and have this lights with DOT US approved....but you are talking about 3000+ $ per assembly if they need replacement......so rethink your wishes.....are you ready some day on the road to pay out of your pocket

Looks like a similar replacement cost for the Prime. But the headlight system is the best I've ever driven. Just hard to understand that the replacement cost is about 10% of the total I paid for the entire car.

Good idea! Something to add to my oil sample and change appointment.

I'm sure it's just software. The headlights already have the individual LED beams anyway. The headlight assembly is US$1,650 each for the Prime.

I look toward the right side of the road, as far ahead as I can stand. One of the good tips I got in driver's ed (decades ago).

More and more cars have headlights that seem annoying even though they probably are low beams. I figured that out after flashing a few cars early on, only to have them flash me back and discover what their high beams really looked like. Oops.

Incidentally, my experience with the new automatic lowering high beams is that they work better than a lot of other drivers do lowering them manually!

I totally love the bright LED headlights! We have so many potholes on our roads now but I can see them clearly at night and able to avoid them clearly.

I think, replacement costs with the Prius Headlights shouldn't be super expensive, as they can obviously be replaced one-by-one (each module separately). At least that's what the guy in this video explains around 01:00 - 01:15 :

The IIHS report on the Prius Prime includes evaluation of the headlight intensity as a function of distance and displacement.

You're thinking if they blow out? Maybe

But if you're thinking as a unit, they're US$1,650 per side before labour costs and taxes. (Someone already had an insurance claim on them because another person hit the front of their car)
