Question about 2010 Mats

That's nice if you want to take a picture of your car interior and frame it rather than actually use the car year round with your shoes on.

 

Oh, I use the car all right. This is my third minivan and now that my twins are 21yrs old I don't need it anymore. I also pick up 1200-1500 lbs. of food for our local food pantry every month (for the past seven plus years) and have taken countless trips to far away places. Crap, how am I going to haul the food in a prius.

I just never let the car get too dirty and clean up any stains or spills with the right product. It's amazing what some cleaning products and a rug doctor can do. Owning one is great.

I also can't drive without shoes because my short little legs reach the pedals, but I need shoes to actually push them (otherwise my toes crinkle up). Oh, did I forget to mention that my feet don't reach the floor. They hang down like a little kids. Must be why my drivers side mat is so clean.

 

I've always gotten the Toyota All-Weather mats. On one car the dealer tried to give me a good, but non OEM brand. I didn't like them. The ridgid edging never fit quite right and I didn't like them. He traded them out.

The OEM's have the car mname and is a soft rubber with deep grooves. I will say that my front drivers mat wore out on my TCH within 60,000 miles.

The rubber mats areflexible and fit nicely, will hold a lot of slush and water and are easy to clean.

I would prefer brown (my Sequoia OEM's were brown) but in my gray interior of the TCH I thought the black actually offset an other wise dull interion. Way too much gray.

If you get stuck purchasing the carpeted mats anyway, store them and put them in when you trade, it will clean the car up nicely.

Oh, it's usually the "deal maker" I always get the deal to where I'm satisfied and say we have a deal if you throw in the mats. No dealer has talked himself into a deal where that will kill the deal.

 

Another possiable question, I saw in the 2010 section of the priuschat store that the all-weather oem matts are available for far cheaper then what is listed on the accessories page, but theirs no mat for the rear. I live in Jersey and the snow/rain can play hell on the carpets.

 

I have a Prius V in Blizzard with Misty Grey interior. I bought the All Weather OEM, Port Installed Mats, and think that the black mats look as though they just belong on this car. It matched the door panels, the center console top, and the dashboard, and contrasts very nicely with the misty grey throughout the car.

My misty grey interior came with PIO black mats all around. I don't like them at all against the light grey. I specifically wanted the misty grey so the interior would be light and not get too hot in the sun. Now, a large portion of the flat surfaces are BLACK. It is exactly what I DIDN"T want. The dealer didn't think it was any big deal and dismissed my concerns about the color. My opinion, from the person who is going to be driving the car for years, apparantly doesn't mean squat.

 

Will PriusShop be carrying carpeted Mats?

 

I plan on returning my drak gray floor mats (Bisque interior) to the dealer. I am hoping to get Gen II 'tan' mats in exchange. Perhaps it's cutting off my nose to spite my face, but i can't see 'getting used' to the dark mats.
My previous car had light tan floor mats that always cleaned up well and didn't show dirt. These mats were worth $ 200, the Prius mats are grossly overpriced (at best only worth $ 100).

Please let us know if the 2009 mats fit the 2010. If they do, I'll take this route also, probably on my own after taking delivery.

 

namasteflc said something about lighter mats not looking dirty; that's another thing I don't like about the black mats - they show every bit of dust, dirt, pebbles, etc. I am used to shaking the mats out on a regular basis, but it's a pain with the driver's side b/c of those little hooks. I wonder what would happen if I just didn't use the hooks at all?

 

NO hooks on my 2010.
I put my rubber mats from the 2006 in. there is a very slight difference in the size. the front on really messy weather might be a bit worrisome.

 

Any chance you post a pic to show the fit? Please?

 

That was exactly my experience: II black but with bisque interior, dark floor mats, matching hatch carpet. Oddly, Toyota's website will not allow a black exterior linked bisque interior but I have one.
Dealer looked everywhere in his lot (where he had several available Priuses) and could not find any bisque mats. Will call district and let me know.

 

FYI, Lexus is also fitting the charcoal mats with all their RX series beige interiors, so it may be a Toyota top down decision. I guess the complaints about them picking up stains outweighed the color issue (although they do match the dash). My IV has bisque/charcoal, but the charcoal does seem to show fewer dirt/leaf particles than the pure black mats on my other car.

 

I like the black mats with the beige interior but wish the cargo area mat was black. The beige is too light, it already has marks from my computer bag wheels.

 

What I like about Misty Gray is it looks more sporty with dark gray door panel inserts, center console and matching mats. I actually bought it sight unseen (had the car delivered to my house using the dealer's 100 miles radius complimentary delivery and I just viewed the interior colors on the website). The color-coded door panel inserts and center console for the other two colors seem too monotone to me. I agree with others that black mats in bisque look out of place at first, but I can see one getting used to the color combination.

 

I agree. I like the combo.

It's funny--I thought my dealer was pulling something over on me when he offered to give me the mats and they turned out to be black. Turns out I was wrong. I shouldn't have assumed!
