Project "pissed off prius" underway

UPDATE: so saw the car at the body shop today. Dude said he's 99% sure they are just gonna total it. So I'm looking for a new ride currently.

 

Rolling in a total POS ford fiesta rental until the insurance settlement and I am probably just going to get a used diesel pickup until I get a job after graduation and can afford something a little better.

 

Geico is my insurance company, being that I was not at fault i am working more so with the other parties insurance company (USAA) and they are doing a fantastic job. I have already inquired about stripping down my car before its gone for good and they have no problems with that after pictures of the wreckage are taken. They even said that as long as I can provide invoices for the mods damaged (coilovers, wheels, tires, headlights, etc.) they will take that in mind as they appraise. Personally I don't think buying back the car is really worth it because when I saw it again today there is no doubt some frame damage, and as much as I would love to get another prius and start all over again. I also don't have that kind of time with graduation right around the corner. It definitely sucks donkey dick, but I am taking it as a sign to get a used diesel truck to drive around in until I get settled in with an "adult job" and able to dedicate more time and money into another prius (quite possibly a Gen 3).

 

So the title and keys to pissed off prius have been sent to the total loss department along with the car. Got a cash settlement for a grand total of $4300.00 *rolls eyes*, which my parents promptly decided to use to buy a car for my unlicensed little brother (I bought the car from them, but was still on their insurance to cut costs while I am still in college). The insurance company wanted to give me $4200, but then I told them about the mods (which I had previously told them about), and they asked for the invoices. I sent them the invoices for the Coilovers, suspension upgrades, wheels, etc. and they only added and extra $100 for the wheels($1300 purchase) since all of the other mods were ordered over a year ago (coilovers were ordered a year and 4 months ago). I had to fight hard with USAA's total loss department to keep my roof rack, subwoofer, amp, and CB stuff (which I ultimately took and now sits in my garage for the next project). For now I am using a spare 3rd gen prius that my parents have and was told if I mod it I will not have a set of wheels for my last 6 months of college. Needless to say I am irritated that a good chunk of change is being sent as is to the insurance company, but it is what it is and I can just buckle down and finish up my degree, get a "real job", and start the process over again with something else.

 

Thank you, keep modding for sure. Tons of inexpensive mods for the prius anyone can do to make their stand out a little more. Most of mine towards the end were a little more expensive, but to each their own.
