    Have you guys read this?

107-MPGe Prius Plug-in will debut in September | Hybrid Cars

If the rumors are true, then AER of the production version is expected around 5.2/3.0*13 = 22.5 miles! Holly shhh..... cow! :eyebrows:
Moreover if the unified battery pack is also realized then the improved battery power is available in hybrid mode as well and this means an even more powerful Prius (peak power between 134 and 180 hp).
    This would be awesome.

In light of natural disasters, It would be nice if Toyota would engineer a reverse flow if needed. The car already has a nice contact point (the plug).-----Just saying.....

Toyota has already announced that the Prius PHV sold in Japan will have the option of having an AC power outlet added onto the Prius that people could use to run/charge items in the event of a natural disaster. In their example, they had a refrigerator, radio, and CFL/LED lamp plugged into it. There was no mention of this option beyond the cars sold in Japan, but I don't see why they wouldn't offer it on all continents.

Thanks for the reply, as you've probably guessed, I'm not in Japan but on Long Island waiting for my power to go out. I also have a 2011 Sienna, it has a regular 120v outlet but I think it can only handle 10 amps. It was meant for a Playstation etc.. but at least I can charge a laptop if needed. I'd love to just get my fridge on line, that would be plenty for me. Can't have my beer getting warm.

Yes but the the storm seems to have weakened, a lot of Montauk homes are well above sea level like Gay Head, Martha's Vineyard. Alot of Prius owners in Montauk because gas is like a dollar higher than the rest of Long Island and NYC. I'm in Nassau county and we still have power- just lucky I guess.

The enthusiasts have transitioned from downplaying expectations of the current rollout to focusing on the next generation design. That's a dead giveaway the worry has already begun.

That's my memory too. No reason to jump to a 22 mile range conclusion based of 5.2 kWh's. The reconciliation may be as simple as the PHEV's ECU's only allowing the mid part of the charge to be available for use - not the top, and not the bottom of the battery's capability. That is, after all, the reason the standard Prius life expectancy is warranted out to 150K miles in several states.

Please. I started coming here in 2005, and speculation on the third gen Prius had already started.

Can you give us some examples? Heck, even one article or post that you can give me a link to will make me happy. I think we're all eager to get into a Gen IV Prius. :)

He is talking about Volt and how articles are now starting to talk about next generation (since current one seems to have really bad sales)

Sales of the Prius haven't exactly been stellar lately, either. I think it's due for Gen IV with improved looks, aerodynamics, and 59mpg. :D

Prius ave been one of best sellers for Toyota dealers this year even with the 2011! I don't particularly like the the third generation Prius's but most of the things I didn't like about the third generation have been fixed for the 2012 refresh and I'll likely buy a plug in Prius. Only the Prius C will be rated close to that 59 mpg and that model won't be the Prius for most people I'd guess due to it's size but I thnk the new models will due quite well even with the $1000 or son price increase . -:)

Spwolf, do you have details of the cycle used to set the 49 g/km CO2 emission ?
