Yes, but you can reset the 2 trip meters instantly. So it has no long term effects at all in regards to the trip meter.

I don't know what happens if you never reset them but I would assume the computer tracks mpg up to available digits on the screen. That's at least 4 on my PiP which means 9999 miles. I don't have that many miles yet so perhaps it could be a 5th digit all the way to 99999 miles.

It doesn't reset completely. It just starts over from 0 for milleage. MPG value appears to be unaffected.

So its a rolling average of the last 10000 miles. It doesn't start from 0. It just starts replacing older mileage with newer mileage in the calculations.

I just assumed (you know what the definition of assume is) that the computer knows what the actual mileage is but only had room for 4 digits on the screen read out. I could be all wrong about that now that I think about it. Gezzzz.

Judging by my Fuelly stats, this would appear to be incorrect. My lifetime Fuelly stats very closely matches my Trip B's lifetime stats. Both are at 56 mpg. But if I look at the last 10K miles on Fuelly, my average is 54.

??? I don't even know what I'm talking about. Devprius just pointed out that I was wrong. I apologize if I was being critical. I was just thinking out loud.

When you power off the screen shows you last trip distance and mpg.

if that's the case, there could be something seriously wrong with the car. perhaps op should take it to the dealer if he hasn't seen an improvement.

just curious, when it "rolls over", is it showing 0005, or just 5 miles?
