I'll take this change of channels time to see if the standard editor does the same thing to carriage returns.
    One return.

    Two returns (one space above).

** Ah, we'll there's my solution. The standard edtor is WYSIWYG as far as line spacing, while the WYSIWIYG editor adds a line space. Ironic. I guess I'll stick with the boring editor unless somebody figures out why the linespacing is different between the editors (you can tell who's using the rich text editor by how much white space is in the post!)

OK, I've been back to "rich text" now for a bit. LOVE IT! The only thing you lose is the extra line breaks, and seeing the colors and formatting before posting. All controls are still there and just as easy to use.

So... one of the Darell Issuesâ„¢ solved.

What are the size restrictions for putting a jpeg in the signature? Is there any place where this is stated? I can't get mine to show up as anything but a thumbnail no matter how small I make it.

    Much improved!

Can you add a "View new unread posts" button?

    Richard -

You should see this link just below where the "Prius Accessories" menu is:
    View New Posts

As far as signatures, I've never been a fan of allowing images in signatures in the first place and for some time had a "no image in signature" policy. Over time I got lax on that because it was tough to patrol, but coming soon we're going to have different levels of PC membership, and one of the levels will allow members to have an image in their signatures. Details to come soon.

hobbit - as soon as I add back the side tables I'll have one with a search.

You might notice that the better looking urls are back - the http://priuschat.com/your-topic-name.html links.

I've also got a skeleton version of the portal back up. It's not at all what I want to end up with, but it's something for now. I'm off to the Garnet/Black USC football game, but hope to do some more work later on.

    Have a good weekend everyone!

    Hobbit -

I put your Search link back at the top of the page by itself, so now you don't have to worry about the JS drop-down box.

I also went ahead and bolded the "View New Posts" link since it's such a popular one.

Any update on the status of RSS feeds. They were working for a little while after the server change, but seem to be down for the last week.

The feed address I am using is http://www.priuschat.com/forums/rss.php . Maybe that has changed?

    Thanks, Danny

    Danny,

When I hit the 'view new posts' and there are more than 1 page, the little buttons at the bottom of the "my topics" window are sort of snipped off just at the bottom. They're still usable, of course, but it just looks a little 'off' or sloppy.

Could you post or send me a screenshot? I'm not sure if I see what you're talking about.

And RSS feeds will be coming back... soon.

It looks like it all depends on where you're looking at it. If you navigate to the PriusChat Website Questions forum and mouse over the link to this thread, it'll show up as:

    http://priuschat.com/PriusChat-Site-Update...ing-t17700.html

but if you mouse over page 4, it'll show the old index.php?showtopic... link. And the View New Posts page still shows the non-friendly links. I'm not sure if anything can be done to fix this, but I'll see what I can find out.

    Here's another new feature:

Similar Topics - I've added a table to the bottom of each thread that shows similar topics (by title). Please let me know your feedback on this new feature!

there is even a posting titled "Does pornography "damage the brain"?" Now what does this have to do with the Prius? Sure it was posted in Fred's House of Pancakes but it is still part of PriusChat not an X-rated forum.

This forum appears to me to ignore the real threat to its success. Namely, the long range implications of this type of posting. There is a time and place for everything. But posting articles about porn are not what this forum should be about, in my opinion, no matter how proper the article is cloaked to appear.

Toyota is a very conservative company and I suggest that if PriusChat wishes to be seen as contributing in a positive way toward Energy issues that subjects like Porn are not included. I doubt web sites which discuss porn do not include discussions about the Prius for the same exact reason. It simply is not the best time and place to do so. I am no prude, but attention to perceived values on this board will go a long way to improving its place long term.

Hmm, I didnt see anything wrong with this topic.. It asked a real life question and there where no images or vulgarity posted. FHOP is a nice place to look & discuss other topics becides prius.. Three60guy it seems you are trying to impose your beliefs on everyone & trying to limit the FHOP's usage by the above post.

Kinda like a church person standing on a street corner handing out religious pamflets. You refuse and they continue to press the pamflet on you until they are following you down the street telling you you will go to hell unless you read their pamflet.. I would think if FHOP offends you you would just skip over the subject and go to the next thread. We are all adults here and have read the limitations posted in FHOP and I believe we wouldn't intentionally brake the rules..

This is danny's site and he has stated in another posting a prius community, Im sure he will run the site as he sees fit too.

    Danny~
Im not trying to over step you or myself, but rather stating my opinion on this matter....

Look just above where it says "Similar topics" The bottoms of the number boxes are clipped.

    wow, that's strange, evan.

in firefox i don't see the clipped buttons, the google ads, or the little warning bar. but maybe the ads are blocked by my adblocker and the warning thing is something only mods see. i do not know.

similar topics is an excellent idea, but i'm curious what the parameters are for similarity- and how far back is this going to go? a month or so?

I'm 99% certain I see that with Firefox too, I'm at work at the moment and don't have it available.

Weird, I don't see that problem in either Firefox or IE, Evan. I see exactly what Gal sees (plus the admin/moderator stuff).
