We're all trying to help Danny iron out some wrinkles as quickly as we can. However, since we all have full-time jobs in addition to the volunteer work we do here, it's going to take a little time. I personally try to knock out the easy ones when I can and dedicate myself to the other things when I hvae more time. For example, rufaro, I'll see what I can do about your signature but I just got to work.

As for "Today's Posts" it's under the [Quick Links] drop-down two-to-the-right of [View New Posts].

JimboK, I don't know what rule you're violating if you are at all. I don't have time right now to dig into it, but I have personally approved multiple mixed-case usernames.

    Problem with password

So i read that you have to reset your password to log in (This is eagle33199 BTW) - i went to the forgot password link and put in my e-mail (it's a hotmail address)... That was yesterday morning, about 24 hours ago, and i still haven't received an e-mail with my new password! Does anyone know if the website is having problems sending e-mail to hotmail accounts? If so, is there anyway i can get an admin/mod to change my e-mail address so i can get the e-mail and log in under my real username?

    thanks!

Oxo -- that's pretty clearly a safari bug, because it shouldn't
*crash* if PC hands you some odd code. Try turning off scripting
and then coming at it. Another lesson learned, I'll bet.

Ahh, there it is indeed. I just nice person-u-me-d it wasn't there at all because it wasn't visible in the bar.

No problem. I was just trying to get a handle on whether the "violation" was isolated to one or two of us or more widespread.

I can't seem to turn off the email notification to replies on subscribed threads.

I have checked my profile several times, and it is turned off.

Does this take some time to reset?

The new design looks good. As with anything new, it will take a period of adjustment/learning. One thing I miss is the "My last 10 posts" option; it was quick and easy.

Well, after trying to read what's new since I last logged in, I've come to the following conclusions.

I agree with the 'too cluttered' crowd. The threads are hard to read as in it's difficult to find where the post body begins/ends which makes it much harder to skim a thread.

Unless I'm doing it wrong, the View New Posts option no longer gives me a link into the thread body directly to the new post and subsequent. This is one of the things I liked most about the old setup. I could pick up a long thread right where I left off without searching.

I may be missing this too, but I don't see a way to set only one forum as read. Before I could set all as read, or only set one forum as read so the 'new' search would ignore it.

My next search here is going to be for ways to simplify/declutter. I guess I'm going to have to start turning off Avatars and Signatures to see if that helps. As it is I'm getting a headache trying to read down the threads.

The button you're looking for is this one: [IMG] and is located to the LEFT of the thread title. If you hover your mouse, you get the tooltip "Go to first new post."

Took me a while also, but that's the "pick up where I left off" button. In the previous incarnation, it was to the right of the thread title but now it's on the LEFT.

Currently, the only way to mark an entire forum as read is to go to the list of forums and double-click on this icon: [IMG]. Yes, DOUBLE-CLICK. I tested it and a single-click doesn't do it.

When you have marked them all as read, you will see this icon: [IMG] indicating that there are no new posts in that forum.

    auto log-out timer

That was happening to me as well, then I saw the "remember me on this computer" check box on the upper right where it shows your log-in status/log-in fields. When I clicked that, then it seemed to work much better. Maybe I had done that also when I first joined PC, but it was so long ago I forgot?

    Regarding "My Last 10 Posts":

I complained about it, and others have too, but on the recommendation of another member in this thread, I tried turning on auto-subscribe, with NO email notification by default, and I'm finding that I could get used to it. Now I just hit Quick Links-> Subscribed Threads and I get more than just my last 10, and can see at a glance if there have been replies as well, which I couldn't do before unless I remembered the post-count from when I posted. I can even bookmark my subscribed threads page so I just click on my browser's link-bar to go right there.

So I officially don't miss "my last 10 posts" anymore.

Some new features will all take some getting used to. It looks like the staff is hard on the trail of the actual "bugs" though, so thanks to all of you again.

    Spell Check

When I click on spell check I get a message inviting me to download ieSpell, which I already had. I downloaded it again, just for drill, but to no avail. I just keep getting the invitation to download and no spell checking.

That's understandable. Work gets in the way of a lot of things, doesn't it?

I would second this issue. It is not only for the google maps thread but also other pics. If you look at the google maps thread, the older pics are larger and a better resolution than the new pics. Therefore there must be a way of displaying larger pics. Could you look into this please.

Got an issue for you mods that was brought up in FHOPol - that forum by default sorts posts by title, not by last posted date. Can we get this changed so it's the same as all the other forums by default? It's not a big issue now, as there's only a few threads, but when it grows to multiple pages it'll be a pretty big deal.

    thanks!

    Latest posts not updated

I put a post on "Jump starting from portable jump start units"

It did not show on latest post.

Other post showed after the time I posted.

The performance gain is very noticeable! Nice job!

The main gripe I have is I liked the landing page of the old site. I really like to view the news and latest posts for the whole site, and now I have to go to 14 different forums to check up on all the threads.

I know that Danny's working on that. He has to build the page with all the sections and such. He's indicated to me that PC will have it's homepage back.

    mark all posts "read"

    Danny,
I'm not finding that option any more - to mark all posts read - or maybe I did; is it an icon?

GREAT revamp - thanks for the tons of hours you and the others put in.

oops! I'll have to fix my signature
