Sorry if I passed on bad information on the Camry's hybrid drive but here's my story.
While I waited to have the recall done on my Prius I noticed they had a Hybrid Camry waiting for the happy new owners. As I sniffed around a salesman thought he smelled blood (I'm not gettting rid of my Prius anytime soon but he didnt know that). I played along and got the cook's tour of the car but left loving my Prius more.
I asked him twice to be sure what he said and though the Camry has an electric motor, a very thin tall state of the art motor, it has only one. He assured me repeatedly.
Sorry to have posted bad info but honestly after searching the net I couldn't find anything to refute it, other than the vast respect I have the for some of the memebrs that say it isnt so that have posted here.

Same here...test drove both...loved both....almost got a Camry but they wouldn't come down to MSRP so walked out....the next morning I woke up glad it fell through....I ended up with a Prius and glad I did. It just feels like more of what I expected with a hybrid. The prices were about the same based on what I was looking for...Prius was just more practical(better mileage).....the Camry hybrid doesn't get that much more mpg than the regular models

I had a similar experience when I was wanting to get a hybrid. I e-mailed the Toyota dealership asking them for a Camry Experience. I then went on and told them that i was interested in either or. I got to test drive the Prius as the second car and just fell in love.

The Camry seemed a little sluggish to me. Didn't have all the fancy Nav either or anything like that, but the feel of the Camry was that it was just another car. The Prius felt like something little bit more special. To me, it also seemed to have a little ore pep. That's just me. The trunk space in the Camry also just killed it for me. I can't believe how little it was.

Being flat-out lied to about the drivetrain is hardly the cook's
tour. That's like the cook offering you rat poison as the chef's
    prized light, flaky dessert specialty.

I got to test-drive the hycam at Tour de Sol a bit. Spent most of
the time trying to figure out how to determine when I was in warp
stealth, since the roads we were out on were 50+ mph limit. It felt
... *big*. It's got that whole "high beltline" twenties-gangstermobile
look going, which I'm hoping the auto industry will get over soon.
I think it had MXv4s on it, rated at 51 psi and of course down at 32
as handed to us by Toyota. The overblown shifter taking up all that
room in the middle is idiotic.

I was glad to get back into my comfy little pod, frankly...
