2Fas drives ~ 3100 miles a week, I think for 50 weeks a year. So his 'standard miles' deduction for a tax year = 3100*50*0.55 = $85,250 How about business costs ? Capitalization is about $12k a year, and fuel is ~ 7 cents a mile: 12,000+3100*50*.07 = $22,850 a year ---- The first ~ $60 - 65k of his business profit is income tax free due to the mileage deduction. As I have said before, Prius is a no-brainer for courier work. Kudos to 2Fas for figuring it out early. I'm not familiar with the details of how a 1099 is dealt with at tax time, so I can only wonder if 2Fas even pays social security LOL
Ok problem car is still overheating, running hot last chance to look for advice before going to dealer. It is still strange cause i am mostly driving electric therefore engine is off. And should cool by itself. Anyway any good advice.
Mechanic looked at car says high speed fan not working properly, with ac on both fans work, but high speed does not kick on. When I turn ice on with ac both fans come an waited at least 5 to 10 minutes no high speed. We swapped out relays so I know there in fact is high speed just doesn't stay on but for about 5 sec. Also whe I turned off ice even set alarm I could hear a noise not loud like a slight whine or high continuos noise coming from engine bay. Lasted about 3 min after shutdown. Dealer says price for head gasket is about the same as used motor with one year warranty from them. I would rather fix overheat first before I take it there. Anyways
2Fas, Do you have a BT equipped Android smartphone ? The android app 'Torque' costs about $5 and will let you monitor different temperatures. The only other cost is an OBDII BT adapter that costs ~ $30. I personally think every hybrid owner should have this or a similar setup. Things make so much more sense when you can check engine codes and monitors sensors.
Water pump? Is there a separate temp sensor to activate the fans and/or the water pump speed? My dad had a Chevy truck that the temp sensor went bad. It made the computer think the air temp or water temp was -65degF (can't remember with sensor...). It was setting the fuel mixture way too rich and would miss so bad he couldn't even get it out of the garage. I wonder if something is telling the system that the engine is too cold so its trying to compensate and thus results in it over heating.
Alright need help. Mechanic gave up on me. Car as I see when starting doesn't misfire, turn ac on high fans working and high speed coming on an off. Now with heat on full no heat just cool air. Temp outside around 85. Can this no heat have something to do with overheating. Also I'm going to drain antifreeze mechanic left the one mixed with the sealer maybe it might have clogged don't know anyway help appreciated been lazy have not driven it in about 2 weeks.
It's more of a Burrrrrrp! Getting all the air out of the system should solve your heating issue.......assuming you didn't have heating issues before and the thermostat was replaced correctly.
300,000 is in the books. I rolled over yesterday. Purchase date 2/14/2008 with 15 miles on the odometer. 3 front wheel bearings, both front headlights, water pumps under recall and regular maintenance with synthetic oil typically every 7000 miles. I drove 200 miles yesterday and averaged 51.5 mpg!
Longbow, thank you for your post. This may not be the right thread...(try 299+ in 2 Gen forums)...but let me ask you: have you changed trans fluid?
I may have during one of the major dealer maintenance events. Probably two or three times I would guess.
