Prius Touring is discontinued by Toyota!

come to Houston. My dealer (right now) has 7 new prius's (3 of which are touring). colors were, black, white and tan. I purchased my 07 approx. 6-7 weeks ago for his cost plus 300 for a touring package 5. came to 25,600 I think - close to that anyway. If I can help anyone let me know. Greg

 

I wouldn't believe anything a salesperson has to say.

I intentionally sought out the Touring edition, as price was not a factor to me, and you get better performance with this option.

My guess is that they would be the first to sell (give the small difference in price vs the base model), and the dealers just want to move their leftover base models..

We are in Maryland and we have been trying to buy a Touring w/ package #5. We have been working with a local dealer, but getting the run-around. "Oh, we've found one." "Whoops, that wasn't a Touring." "Are you sure you really want a Touring?"

Can anyone suggest the best way to go to another state (North Carolina? New Jersey?) without paying full price? We have a pre-negotiated set of prices (through a buying service) with our local dealer, which, of course, is useless when they don't find the car. If we deal with an out-of-state dealer, we're afraid we have no decent negotiating position once we've driven several hundred miles to get the car.

I'd appreciate any suggestions people have.

A few years ago I bought out of state. You can either get the phone number and call or e-mail the internet sales manager. You can negiotiate without having to drive there. By asking, I was able to get 1k off the price when no one else was discounting, for having to drive a few hundred miles. It worked well for me.

The only down side is if you are trading in a car. they can't give you a firm quote without having seen your trade-in.

Go to one of the "quote" sites or Toyota.com and key in a DE, PA or NJ zip code (08077). I'm not at home this weekend but if you send a PM I'll look for an ad I received that must list every Toyota dealer in SJ. Send an e-mail stating what you want and see who responds. If the offers come back higher than what you expect to pay then make a counteroffer. The purchase price should be set before you leave home.
