If you did and the injector are loose add a washer to the top you will have to remove the rubber seal off the injector to get the washer over. Other Symptoms are poor slide and from the start of the engine on is rough. And odd noise Poor mpg by 10 mpg. O2 codes and misfire. Why no clue I tested size the same ordered OEM seals. Nothing changed.
pushed on them while someone inside smooth right out. It not off much but I think air getting out or in. of the fuel injector seal

No.. I hadn’t done any work at all other than oil changes, filters etc.. after watching other videos of bad Cats, I pretty convinced that’s what it is. Will know more in a day or 2.

This is exactly the noise my 220k Prius makes under acceleration or uphill. It seems to happen more often when the engine compartment is warm, even when it hasn't been run but the sun has been shining brightly on the hood. Any conclusive ideas what this is?

Of course, if it was the cat, it also could very well be dependent on temperature.

I was getting the rattling upon acceleration and a very rough idle, but mine was also accompanied by engine misfire codes. I replaced injectors 1 and 2 and all is smooth sailing after that (once I got the injectors seated properly that is. :) )

Yes, I replaced Fuel Injector 1 and Fuel Injector 2 with cheap Amazon Fuel Injectors I bought for about $40 for a 4 pack.

You have a air leak at the seals I had to a washer to the top of the fuel injector to push them in. Tried OEM seal and injectors still same but adding washer fixed it about $1 fix

I actually had a fuel leak since I was able to see fuel leaking and could smell it while driving. I messed up the washers because I didn't seat them in the fuel rail properly and put little kinks in them. Bought replacement washers from Toyota (more than a $1) and all was good after that.

Not at this point. The Cat code cleared, so I let it go. Still getting rattle here and there. I think the honeycomb in the Cat is broken. I don’t really have the money to replace at the moment. Will post results after I do it. At this point, I’ve had the rattle for 70,000 miles..ish, so a few more shouldn’t kill her.

How many miles ago? My mechanic is against them. Says he’s never had one that lasted. He’s not one to waste $$ either.

Odd rattle Mostly going up or down a Hill Sounds like a CV joint but it transmission fluid low fill on a 100% flat road remove bolt and fill with a tube

Or fuel injector letting in air or leaking fuel
Found the black riser cracked at the top looks like no big deal but it keep them straight. Replace with use one off ebay it sound like something really wrong like steel balls in side engine

Check orange washer for cracks too

I get this loud rattle when the engine is spooling down after revving it up. It kinda sounds like the timing chain. Any guesses?

Ok I found a similar post with the exact same problem. I guess it’s the EGR valve and intake manifold is getting clogged. So I will look into getting it cleaned. How much could I expect to pay generally at mechanic or dealership? Someone said something about a extended warranty but I’m sure that’s expired by now.

Hi Darth your in the wrong forum.

This is the Gen 2 forum 2004 to 2009 Prius

Your car is in the Gen 3 Forum 2010-2015.

Many things don't translate like EGR for instance. A Gen 2 does not even have a EGR.

Go to the top of the page see where it says Prius. Pull that down and select Gen3. Many many discussions about the EGR issue over there.
