Great price. If you don't mind me asking, did you pay all cash or what was your APR?

Ahhh I see. So to confirm what you're saying, only NorCal had $2K promo with 0% APR (good) that ended on June 4 but not SoCal. And starting June 5, NorCal started offering SoCal's promo (bad) which was $2K promo with 5% APR for 60 months or $500 promo with 0% APR.

Actually, I stand corrected on the last statement. NorCal dealers now only matches the $2k rebate but offers a different financing option of 0.9% financing for 60months that can't be combined with the cash rebate. A big downgrade for them while SoCal stayed the same.

You can check current local Toyota rebates/financing deals by going to Toyota site under local specials (just input the zipcode)

fyi, I got 1.99% financing for 36 months on the portion that I financed. easy peasy. No time to tarry in the DC area. We spent two weeks in DC in 2016 and loved it. We have 1,600 miles to drive so we can be back to work on Monday. Nothing but driving and sleeping this weekend. DC takes time.

Thanks for the clarification. I’m just trying to see if I got a good price on mine and what other places are offering out of curiosity. It’s hard to compare my price with some of the claimed OTD price here because most of them are forgetting to post their financing offer with the APR’s. I’ll post my price breakdown now.

Thanks for the update. SoCal currently only offers $2,000 rebate + 5% APR over 60 months or $500 rebate + 0% APR over 72 months as their best offer. There’s a local credit union that would refinance it for free with 1.49% APR over 36 months. After doing some math, I’d save $1,000 more by taking the $2,000 rebate with 5% APR over 60 months and refinance with the local credit union for 1.49% APR over 36 months versus $500 rebate + 0% APR over 72 months.

Yeah, basically the same for me in SoCal. Thanks for the response.

Hello PriusChat community! Thank you for everyone’s help. I was able to confidently purchase my car in the infamous/expensive Prius SoCal without getting ripped off thanks to you guys. Here’s my price breakdown on a 2017 Prius Prime Premium Magnetism Blue/Black:

MSRP $30,073 and suggested invoice $28,800 (Optional equipment already added to the price are all weather floor liners/cargo tray $248, shifter panel appliqué $55, and rear bumper appliqué $75).

OTD price $27,747 after $2,000 Toyota CA rebate and $750 college graduate rebate (degree received within 2 years or will graduate within 6 months) with 5% APR for 60 months financing.

    $27,747 - $10,000 down payment = $17,747 x 5% APR = $334.90 month x 60 months = $20,094

$20,094 +$10,000 down payment = $30,094 (actual total price that I'll have to pay)

But local Credit Union will help refinance for free the remaining actual balance of $17,747 at 1.49% for 36 months so it’ll be $504/month x 36 months = $18,114.

$18,114 + $10,000 down payment = $28,114 (actual total price that I'll have to pay which is lower than the other Toyota financing offer of 0% APR + $500 rebate for 72 months which ends up being $29,297)

$28,114 - $4,502 Federal Tax Return Electrical Vehicle - $1,500 CA State Tax Return Electrical Vehicle = $22,112 (grand total price of the car after I receive Federal Tax and State Tax Electrical Vehicle return)

Here's a list of sold 2017 Prius Primes in CA I found in the PriusChat forum and SlickDeals forum from 06/06/17 to 03/01/18:

    - 04/29/18: $29,863 OTD using 0% APR + $500 rebate.
    - 04/13/18: $27,809 OTD using $2,000 rebate (didn't say APR)
    - 04/06/18: $27,500 using $2,000 Toyota rebate with all cash.
    - 04/05/18: $29,760 using 0% APR and $500 from Longo Toyota matched by Tustin Toyota.
    - 03/24/18: $27,300 OTD using $2,000 rebate (didn't say APR)
    - 03/11/28: $28,507 OTD using $2,000 rebate (didn't say APR)
    - 03/10/18: $29,748 OTD using 0% APR + $500 rebate.

After seeing this data, I figured the OTD price I got was really good especially considering that all 2017 Prius Prime Premium Magnetism Blue/Black were sold out in the Los Angeles area except one dealership so I bought it on 06/06/18. My guy friends at work is giving me a hard time because it’s a “Metro” Prime but I know they’re just jealous.

Thanks again guys. I hate the feeling of being taken advantage of and you guys prevented that from happening. I hope this post helps the PriusChat community as you guys have done for me.

You did really well. If you conduct this kind of careful analysis throughout your financial life, great things await you down the road. I’ve wasted $ on cars over the years, and I really enjoyed the cars I’ve owned, but now that I’m 54 years old, it’s time to drive something that’s very economical, nice, and practical for hopefully the next 12-15 years. For me, that’s a 2017 Prius Prime—and the deal was extraordinary—for once I feel like I won the car grind game! And you did, too!

Wow, that’s awesome to hear from your generation’s perspective. With the current technology, it’s easy for a nobody like me to collect these data but everyone knows during your time it was very difficult win in the grind game.

I’m from Generation Y. I grew up with technology advancing very quickly during my adolescence, and having a wealth of information and advertisement thrown in my face. I wasted so much money on materialistic things like brand clothes, shoes, etc. but now that I’m 30-years old, recently married, bought my first home, and wife having our first baby, I see the value of a dollar more than before. Nice cars are nice, but I learned that maintenance for the long-term in anything in life will help me and my family thrive. That’s why I chose the Toyota Prius Prime over everything else.

    Thank you for sharing.

P.S. The Toyota Prius Prime is my second car in life, and my first new car ever. My first car was a used 2006 Honda Accord Coupe. I riced it up but the engine blew on me because I didn’t maintain it well due to first time having so many life obligations all at once. It was a great learning of life experience and I plan to take care of my Toyota Prius Prime better so I can give it to my child as his high school graduation present lol.

Great outlook and congrats on the car!

Be assured that you probably got the lowest price that Socal dealers were willing to sell the car for in the past 2-3 weeks. The 2 or 3 lowest legit bids I got were around $25.5 after 2k rebate. So with your recent graduate rebate (Congrats again!), the prices will end up about the same. Glad also you weren’t forced to pay extra for those pre-added accessories or protection stuff.

Flew yesterday to Maryland and after 1587 miles we arrived home this afternoon. The car is far more fabulous than I even imagined. It is as wonderful experience as the 2004 was 14 years ago. Lots of cool surprise tech to discover along the way. Averaged 49 mpg with a head wind and no charging along the way and average speeds of 75 and 80 mph. wow That's with the tires inflated to 35/33 and I'm sure it will get better if my experience with these cars is any gauge.

Jim Coleman Toyota in Bethesda and it was the best buying experience ever. Stephen Richter, William Hoyos and Troia Collins were excellent at sales, sales manager and negotiator and finance manager respectively. Stephen picked us up at the airport and everything was all set up to make a quick transaction with no surprises and they were all great to talk to and work with. I wish they were local. My local folks are great at service but sales is another matter.

I got the 2017 Prime Advanced on Monday. I live in PA but bought it from Holman Toyota in NJ (sales people Don C. & Chad were great).
It came with the all weather floor liner package...
    OTD $28269.00
    I Love IT!!!

Wow, my OTD price of $27,747 was after discounting the $2,000 Toyota rebate and $750 graduation rebate. Was the $25.5K OTD price for a Prius Prime Plus, Premium, or Advanced? And near Los Angeles area? If so, which dealership was it? And exterior/interior color?

The price I was actually quoting was after discounts and incentives but before any TTL/fees, and taxes were applied. I am assuming your OTD price included all of that into account so it’s still pretty even.

It was for a Premium. Silver and Red were the ones I was inquiring about. One dealer was in OC, one in San Fernando Valley, one was from Valencia.

They all already sold out though by the end of May or start of June.

Ok, that makes sense. Yes, my OTD price of $27,747 was after Los Angeles County taxes. Yep, 2017 Primes were hot during that June 4 sale. So little left after that sale ended, I was really happy to find the exact model I wanted for a good price (Premium Magnetism Blue/Black).

I am also in PA and got mine from Holman. I felt as though they did a little bait and switch to get me over there but in the end I got the price I was looking for. Congratulations.
