If Balise in RI could do 26K with only a 4.5k rebate I don't see why 25K wouldn't be doable at a CT, NJ, NY dealer, these 2017 cars are only getting older and less desirable. I am going to hit up some NY, NJ dealers and see what they say.

I got 10K off my 2005 Mazda RX-8 in 2006 when the best deals posted online were 5-8K. You just have to put in some time/effort to see who is desperate to move cars. The prime isn't selling that well nor is it a hot commodity and I'm not desperate to buy a car, just toying around with the idea of replacing my wife's 2010.

I'm eager to see a sales contract or written offer from any dealer, for an *Advanced*, where the total for ABSOLUTELY EVERYTHING before tax+license+reg is anywhere near as low as any of these "I almost got" prices.

That means the bottom-of-the page, "Cash Due On Delivery" price, after the current Toyota cash-to-customer rebate for this particular year & model & trim & region, and including all seller or manufacturer charges such as "doc fee", "prep", "conveyance", "transit", "advertising", "destination and handling", etc. --
IOW, all those "gotcha" line-items which many people don't discover until they're sitting in front of the "finance manager".

Edit: For the record, although RI was within my 150-mile search radius, I only contacted dealers whose inventory showed an Advanced in Blizzard Pearl + black. Balise wasn't one of them, so I can't say what kind of offer they might have communicated to me if they'd had my target car.

OTOH, even among the six dealers (out of 40 contacted) who did *eventually* send me a detailed and credible and attractive offer (2 in CT, 2 in MA, 2 in NY) -- even one of those dealers had to be pressed before disclosing that the first quoted price omitted a several-hundred-dollar "conveyance fee".

    Caveat emptor.

Eager to know what new Toyota incentives might come out after June 4. Anyone who followed Prius pricing on previous years able to share any info on what Toyota typically offer after the Memorial Day promos (going into the 4th of July sale).

Is there a usual formula they follow to sell last year model or is this recent one a unique case?

OTO-OH, maybe there IS / was something special about RI. Just now I was searching for info about what date the $4-5k factory rebate began, and I came across this from January at Toyota 2017 Prius Prime (Plug-in Hybrid, Trim level : Plus) MRP $27995 -$5000 rebate -$4500 Federal tax credit = $18595 - Slickdeals.net :
"You can expect to get a discount from the dealership for $1000 - $2000, or even more (such as RI below $3000 INVOICE)..."
If that applied to the 2017 Advanced, then I may have, in effect, paid a LOT more than a $395 special-color charge just for the privilege of getting white paint.
I insisted on white almost solely with the idea that it would reduce heating of the interior in warm+sunny weather, all because of concern for the animals I carry. I hope they appreciate it.

For the record, my prior post about
wasn't intended to cast aspersions on the probity of anyone here on PriusChat, but rather merely to counsel caution about any offer from a dealer who hasn't yet provided a written line-item breakdown.

Boy, do *I* stand corrected about Balise / RI. That's $1750 less than I paid just Tuesday night, for same base + xtras, before tax/lic/reg.
I actually searched for this kind of info the day before I bought:
2017 "prime advanced" "how much did you pay"|What you paid"|"people are paying"|"people have paid" - Google Search
... but found this PriusChat thread only after the purchase. Sure wish Balise would have had the white one.

Worse yet, I see now that my ggl search was malformed, missing a quotation mark before 'What you paid'.
Just now retried it correctly, and saw that the search *would* have found this forum. [nusrat now retches violently onto keyboard]. I feel like the guy whose finger-check set off that incoming-Korean-missile alert in Hawaii.

Oh, well... Maybe some day I'll give up my 4Runner for a Toyota 86 - Wikipedia from Balise.

Best I could do was $28,100 before taxes, tag, fees (an educated assumption with my trade--not including federal tax credit) at Jim Coleman in Maryland....the NY dealers only gave $1000 off sticker with that $5000 rebate. With the tax credit, I only paid $23,900 total out the door, including taxes, title, tag and all fees--I feel good about that!

Hi Folks. I'm looking at possibly buying a '17 Plus model. One local dealer has one at $23,900 (prior to any state/federal rebates). I offered to come pick it up tonight for $23k, but they didn't seem to want to move. Any thoughts on their price as-is? Seems like most info here is for the Premium/Advanced models.

I'm tempted to just take that price, but with the Toyota $2000 cash for 2017 models expiring on Monday, I'm wondering if Toyota will increase that discount or the dealer will want to get rid of it more if it's still there in a few days. Thanks

You should be getting 17-20% off the sticker with all rebates and discounts (not including the state or federal tax credits) to match the “northeast” deal.

I agree. Without the rebate, should be 10% off the sticker or close to it.

Thank you. I'm going to another dealer who said they would beat the price (pro: Blizzard Pearl paint over silver, con: moonstone cloth interior). With any luck I will have my first Prius this evening :)

I had a dealer tell me that he’s never seen them discontinue the rebate on the previous model year new car. He said that they always roll it over.

I would try looking for a thread on the topic of 2016 prices-paid, and see what ppl were saying in the posts beginning around this time last year.

I bought my Plus in Feb for $23.3k out the door (no tax in DC). I think they should be able to do better than that.

On a side note, really like the Plus, didn't need the other features and didn't want to pay the extra $$. Came from a 12 Prius and interface is SO much better and faster/responsive.

Had a really bad experience with the dealer listing one at $23.9. First they tried to raise the price by $750 in my contract (i.e. to pocket my College Grad Rebate), then they put on a $395 fee for VIN etching and would not take it off. So the $23,150 was actually $23,545. Unfortunately I'd already put a deposit down before I noticed etch fee, but I went back the next day to do paperwork and asked for (and received) a refund after they wouldn't remove or negotiate it down.

Ended up going to a different dealer and paying a little more for one with Blizzard Pearl and Moonstone interior.

    '17 Prius Prime Plus:
    OTD cost (w/tax & fees): $24175 ($24786)
    Minus Oregon/Fed tax credits (w/tax & fees): $18175 ($18786)

Was hoping to pay a little less, but I like the paint a lot better than the Classic Silver (as the cheaper one was) and would rather pay a little more at an honest dealer than give anything to a sleazy one.
