Prius Prime - official prices paid thread

It does sound attractive but I'm just too lazy to drive that far unless I know I can't make a good deal in NJ. So will try NJ first.

 

My friend is looking to buy a 17 Prime. He is in LA area, Montery Park. Have not seen South CA price recently.

 

I just wanted to say thanks for the time and effort with this post. It was extremely helpful and assisted me with finally getting the Prius Apps to work. The Toyota owners and the Entune sites do not work very well from an IPhone. I finally had to go to a PC to input my contract ID and now all is working!

This difficult process I have gone through probably could have been avoided if Toyota would simply give up on Entune and adapt Apple carplay.

I agree, that you need to be willing to walk away from the deal. I was low balled from some dealers for my trade in, a 2011 Subaru Outback with 133,000 miles. I brought it in thoroughly cleaned and looking really sweet. It had about $4,000 of repairs/upkeep (tires, exhaust, AC, etc.) that needed to be put into it, and it was not eligible for the extended transmission warranty that Subaru just extended because so many owners were having issues. I didn't want to put any $ into it before I purchased the Prime. Herb Chambers Toyota in Boston gave me at the top end of Kelly Blue Book, but only after I was ready to walk. For an Advanced, they took off $2,900 the MSRP, + the Toyota rebate of $4,500, + the $6,750 for my trade in. Their fees are high, but compared to others trade in offers, I'm ok with the final price. They were a pain to deal with, as I financed through my credit union and I had to drive in to the dealer a number of times (they messed up on paperwork) - but being able to walk away, finally, for $22,060, including tax and the trade in, but not including Mass rebate of $1,500, or the Fed Tax Credit, I will end up paying about $16,000. I have a great credit union rate as well, as I took a longer term, but will pay it off much faster when my daughter is finished with college next year. If I had kept my trade in, I've run the numbers on car cost calculators - with the costs of the fixes and the gas costs calculated in, keeping the trade in for 3 years, and what I calculate costs would be, versus buying the Prime, and keeping it for 10 years, the Prime comes out ahead for per-mile-costs per year. We feel as if it is the optimal time to trade in, as our last car lost its transmission, and we lost a lot of its value as a trade in. We have never purchased new before, but wow, the rebates/incentives/credits have made this a no-brainer for us.

 

I’d say you worked hard and got a great deal. That’s what it takes—gotta be ready to battle and walk away. I have an “until it dies” plan for my Prime. I’m going to see just how far—how many miles—I can get before she dies. If I get 10 years out of the battery, and the car is still in great shape (I garage them, and do all the required maintenance), I will probably pay for a new battery and drive it 5 more years. But as the years pass, it will be interesting to see just how far my Prime goes until a major issue arises.

No because Maryland is only offering 3k. You would have to apply for sticker in your state CA.

I think 10% off is a good deal before any rebates or incentives, or taxes/fees. However, this being a 2017, I would try to make it $30,000.....another $1400 off....

 

Would you then take the $2k mfr rebate off the $30k target price for a net price of $28k before taxes and fees?

Yes—28K before taxes and fees. I would get as close to that as I could—then take the deal.

 

Original poster's 2017 Advanced Pearl White MSRP was $34,486, so $30,000 target price ($28k net after $2k mfr rebate) would be $4,486 off. The largest discount I've seen on this thread was $4,288 off posted by PriusPostus2 who purchased at Balise Toyota in RI.

I agree that $4,486 would be a great discount, but I don't know of any southern CA dealership discounting by that much. If anyone knows of such a dealership, please share. I'm in LA, and I'd be very interested.

 

Yes. But I decide to go with the 0% APR for 72 months. I'm looking at this dealer that still has a lot of primes on their lot. Hopefully they'll be more motivate to sell as the end of month is approaching.
