Wait until Damian is in and ask him or Mike to handle it directly, because they will pass you on to sales.

I spoke with someone at Langway yesterday. The conversation with this particular salesperson (not Damian or Mike) was entirely unproductive. He wanted a lot more. I'm happy for you for getting this fantastic price there though.

With my preferred dealer I find the buyer experience varies widely depending on the salesman. I had one salesman gave false feature information. The best was a Gen 1 Prius owner who is very thorough.

This is VERY IMPORTANT when purchasing cars!!! I was in luxury auto/RV sales for some 23 years, and working for the same basically straight shooter company for most of that time, saw a HUGE diversity in salesperson quality from total liars, ignorant baboons to highly professional knowledgeable, honest salespeople. Find a GOOD dealership, but then make sure to get a GOOD salesperson. It's just like America, there are good people and there are bad; to be happy, you hangout with the good!!

I can't disagree. However, how do you FIND a good salesperson?

Referrals from very satisfied friends and family is the way I shop. You should still verify the referral yourself; keep in mind the judgment of the referring person, but I've been happiest with referred service providers including salespeople, doctors, lawyers, contractors, and computer techs, all very important people in our daily lives.

In my case. my son found a referral right here and arranged to buy his first Prius. Later, I found they had a Corolla I wanted but I ended up with another salesman. When I looked for the Prius I went specifically to the good salesman and have been very satisfied with the experience, even though they are 150 miles away.

Exactly. Talk to Damian or Mike the general manager or Langway himself and you will get the same price.

I gave you two names. Call and talk to them. You find out about them by referral or the innate ability to cut through the bs.

Boch was giving the lowest pricing when I was doing my search, but they don't issue temp tags (MA state doesn't issue them). Other states will. IIRC, Boch also had the highest dealer fees, so the discount isn't as big as you might think (it was less than a thousand compared to Langway).

You can also ask for James Sidman - he is Langway's Internet Sales manager.

Boch was 1k more than Langway when you add in their fees.

Availability in the Midwest is still a trickle. I waited, I think 3 months.

Great service at Smart Toyota, Madison Wisconsin. They refer to John Dolan as their "Hybrid Guy" and he knows his hybrid stuff. Scott Nelson was my "Sales Consultant" and between the two, you couldn't find nice people. Seriously. Smart's large and clean; every person I met was friendly. I strongly recommend them to anyone in the area.

Because there is very little inventory in the area, there's no haggling. Expect to pay MSRP.

Thanks everyone for help. I will be visiting them this weekend. I wanted to do the trade in also, but they are giving me really a throw away prices for my cars, 04 Nissan Murano SE fully loaded with 90k, they offered little more than 1k.

Anyway, Boch prices are about 600-1k more than the Langway.

Finally I got my Prius Advanced from Toyota of Morristown in NJ. Only things added on was a cargo bar and alloy wheel locks. Instead of All Weather Floor Line, I got the Carpet Mat. Drive it back from Morristown, NJ back home. Learned the various electronics as I was driving back, but still lot more electronics to learn about. It is a great car and it is my first new car and a first Prius. I declined VSA (extended warranty) based on all the comments, but on the paper VSA looks too awesome to be true.

Thanks to all of you guys for your responses in this thread, as it helped me in finding the right dealership at the right price with the right configuration. Without this thread, I am sure I would be lost.

    Prius Prime Advanced
    MSRP $34,583
    Alloy Wheel Locks $65.00
    Carpet Floor Mats/Cargo Mat $224.00
    Removable Cross Bars $299.00
Discounted price $28,750 with $3,500 cash rebate
    NJ tax $2,248.74
    Doc $459
    Motor vehicle $301
    NJ tire tax $7.50
    Out the door $31,766.24

You must get non-Toyota financing to get Toyota's rebate. Use the credit union to finance, and keep the Toyota rebate; this provides greatest benefit with credit unions like mine offering 1.84% interest.

California rebate on the Prime is currently (8-31-17), $1500 cash rebate to people earning a specified maximum, unless you qualify as a low income purchaser, in which case you receive $3500. A bill is currently circulating through the legislature to fund the EV, plug-in rebates with another $3 Billion!!

My experience exactly with a 2012 PIP costing much more than my 2017 Advanced.

Hi. Now I'm officially a "car(d) carrying member" of the Prime Cult. We flew to LaGuardia this morning and finalized the purchase of the vehicle at DCH Toyota City in Mamaroneck, NY (Westchester County). Didn't get the highest amount of discount, but received $3,500 rebate and additional $1,000 off MSRP. Doc fee, NY tire fee, and temporary "transfer permit" totaled $110. We are driving the car home to Indiana beginning tomorrow. We are registering the car when we return to Indiana and paying the taxes then.

I could not get a price lower than this, but we were relatively pleased with the fact that they did not play any games with us. They quoted a good (maybe not an extraordinary) price and we ended up saving over $7,000 over the lowest quote we received back in Indiana. If we lived locally or in a reasonably driving distance, we probably had more leverage (as in walking out, going to multiple dealership in person over a few days, etc.) to obtain a lower price. Also, we felt Maine and Rhode Island was a bit too far for a 2 day drive home, since we really like to take a road trip in a leisurely manner. Also, we sort of knew the NYC area much better than Maine or Rhode Island, so that's how we ended up there, as well as the fact that we actually found a reasonable (and extremely time efficient) flight to LaGuardia from Indy.

So the numbers again: 2017 Prius Prime Advanced in Blizzard Pearl, black interior, with all season floor mats, cargo tray, and door edge guards. Received approx. $4,500 discount off MSRP ($3,500 of that is the Toyota "factory incentive").

We are interested in knowing how this car drives on our way home.
