Sorry, I misspoke, I found really good prices advertised from dealerships in Danbury, CT and Westchester County, NY. So is it the case that $3,500 factory cash back incentive are only available in certain cities?

no, it goes by state. all of ny/nj is required to offer toyota's $3,500. rebate. but advertised prices are by dealer.

It seems to be on a good number of primes. I saw at least one other Prime at langway that had the same defect.

I think that thread should be a sticky for all Prime buyers, but since I feel like this forum is kind of a Toyota PR site, I don't think it's going to happen.

The dealers in New England are discounting 2-3k beyond that!

I was just seeing the asking price on their websites...I'm assuming that we could negotiate lower than just $3,500 cash back. However, are dealerships in New England, DC/NJ/CT areas receptive to customers from Midwest flying in and purchasing one of their vehicles? Would they help us get a good deal on shipping the car to us?

If dealers advertise like they do around here. the online prices have already accounted for the cashback.

I am aware of that. The online asking price is MRSP minus $3,500 (or $3,125 in New England), minus dealer discount that ranges around $500-$800. I'm assuming the real buyers are negotiating below that.
This is in comparison to a dealership about one hour northwest of Indianapolis: Their Truecar quote was a little over $6,000 above MSRP, they are calling that premium dealer/regional markup. Disgusting.

    welcome!
certain dealers are very receptive, helpful, and willing to negotiate.

i know this is a long thread, but there are many here from outside the northeast who have detailed price, dealer, and even sales person. all the best!(y)

Picked up a 2017 Blizzard Pearl Prius Prime advanced at Kendall in Eugene, OR.

Paid $32,737 OTD with all fees and licensing (4 years in Oregon).

    MSRP was $34,628 (no markup)
    Discount off MSRP was $2299
    Before fees/registration: $32,329
Used Toyota Motor financing at 0.9% for 60 months instead of $1000 rebate.

This was not an easy deal to procure and was a process over 3 weeks. Toyota Motor Corp Oregon incentives were 0.9% for 60 months or $1k rebate from Toyota but not both. I pushed dealer for Toyota financing and the $2299 off with oem factory roof rack thrown in as well for biking/cargo.

    Hey Gang,

Just got home with my Red Advanced. Got the deal done in under 4 hours.

Anyways, Bay Area / Napa CA dealer and here's what they had up on the window:

    17_Prius.jpg

Now the out the door price was $33,000 + Tax ($2,770.45) and doc fee ($80) and some BS "Total Fee's" of ($364.75) Grand Total: $36,215.20 @ 1.9%

I had to choose between the 1,500 cash back or the 1.9% we took the 1.9%

Now I didn't really want those alloy wheels and I think all the other optional equipment listed are way marked up. Alas they won cause we needed a car this afternoon so it had to get done. I did get an extra year of oil changes (big deal I used to be a tech lol) thrown in though.

I think we got taken but at least the -$4,500 Federal and -$500 PGE(utility co.) rebate makes it somewhat reasonable for the car that my wife wanted. Then again maybe not lol

Are you really sure about this? Are you saying that dealers you know about in New England are selling a base Advanced for less than $27,000? ($33,100-$3,500-$3,000=$26,600) If so, why are they doing this? Are they having a hard time selling them?

We did as much negotiations as we can tolerate with the local dealers here in Indiana. Neither one of them (yes, there were only two dealers with Advanced in their lots, one car with each dealer.) were willing to budge. We negotiated down to $1,500 above MSRP with one dealer. The other dealer (who had a audacity to send me an TrueCar offer $6,000 above MSRP) did not even want to sell the car to me when I figured out that the prices were much lower elsewhere. My guess is that those poor low-volume dealers in economically depressed cities are using their Primes as a cash cow. So we gave up on sourcing the car locally.

We are flying out to New York soon to pick one up in Westchester County. Please wish up luck. I will give you a full report on pricing when we return.

$2k off certainly is the norm around here. I got an Advanced with a sticker price of $34,358 (all weather liners and door guards) for $29,500 pre tax. I tried to go lower and probably could have if I I had more time to shop around but none of the other quotes I had were much better and no other dealer nearby had the color I wanted so I didn't push too hard.

    I paid $27,753
    $200 doc fee
    $20 title
    $24 temp tag
    So, $28k to the dealer.
    MSRP was $34,298

I haven't registered the car yet, so I still need to pay tax and dmv fees.
