$10k LE mark up is ABSURD !
    I’d get Rav4Prime at that point. :D

Or just buy out of state and across the country and plan a nice road trip back. I just purchased a LE last weekend from Tarbox Toyota in Rhode Island and drove it back to the Chicago area. $23,330 before taxes, title, & doc fees. Last I checked they had 15 Primes listed on their website still.

Funny you suggest that... I asked around all the dealerships in the bay area. Either there's a 8-10K markup on the rav4 prime or a 6-8 month waitlist if they're not marking it up. Crazy times to live in...

I'm in SF too.. May I ask what this $500 for hybrid discount is for? This is the only discount I don't recognize.

you re correct. I somehow remember to have $500 discount for hybrid but this is not true.
So basically $4500 cash back, $900.11 for CA clean fuel, $750 for uber driver and $650 dealer discount
For Rav4 Prime, have you check sftoyota? Their website shows some in stock with $2k markup

$29,658 MSRP - Prime LE with Dealer installed options - All weather floor mats, body side moldings, and wheel locks.
    Dealer Price - $28,830 ($828 dealer markdown)
    $5500 Toyota Incentive
Price before taxes, title & doc fee - $23,330.

They were pretty straight forward and easy to work with. I basically just went with their advertised internet price, put down a deposit, and booked a ticket out. No surprises picking it up.

Haha, no worries. I was just wondering if there was a discount I wasn't aware of. I did actually ask SF Toyota about their RAV4 Prime. The salesman on the phone asked if I wanted to be put on the waitlist (with the $2k markup). That was the end of the call so I don't know how long the waitlist is.

I'm actually about to close a deal for a LE Prime at MSRP ($26,750 OTD - ~9% tax - $80 doc - $400 license fee) from Toyota Oakland by paying full with cash. The only issue is that the $500 college grad rebate I qualified for, is only accepted if I finance the car. The dealer said I have to finance at least $5,000 at 4.49% APR and that even if I pay it off within the first month, I would be responsible for a "$150 finance charge". Does anyone know if this is true? My math doesn't add up to $150 worth of interest on a 5K loan but I may be missing something.

    1. You should also do the $750 Uber incentive
    2. Dealer is BS'ing you. They lose a kickback if you pay off the loan before 90 days, but there is no provision that charges YOU money.

I’ve been waiting weeks for my Uber driver background check so plan ahead people because I don’t think I’ll have it in time

Having a tough time finding many dealers willing to budge more than a few hundred off MSRP.

Thanks, I ended up buying the car. The loan is through Toyota financial so hopefully once I pay it off, I won’t be charged the $150 worth of interest for that $5K - 12 month loan at 4.49%.

I had signed up for Uber a week ago but the background check still didn’t process. Additionally, the dealer at the beginning said they don’t accept that rebate at their location, I didn’t want to fight it. Final rant is that we put a deposit on the car that was coming “any day” and waited 6 days for it even though I told her I wanted to buy a car within 3. The dealer in return gave us 5 hours to pick up the car, the same day they received it - unless we made a deal and signed the paperwork remotely. Otherwise they were going to sell it instead to a “backup” buyer who put down a deposit as well. It was a family member’s birthday that day so I signed the papers remotely.

To those who are still shopping, I think the 2022s are hitting the lots soon and they don’t currently have any rebates afaik. I believe once the 21s leave the lots, it’s probably the last of them. You may have to wait half a year for the 22s to have strong rebates again. Maybe the chip shortage will be over and dealers start discounting the cars again, no one really knows. I didn’t want to take the chance after reading that the 22s are identical.

I'm going up to Denver Saturday hoping to buy a 2021 Prime XLE in Blue Magnetism with black interior. In Colorado, finding a Prime is pretty rare. (There are currently zero in Colorado Springs but they list them on websites as "incoming") Denver salesman I spoke to said they aren't allowed to let people put down a deposit to hold the hybrids because they are selling so fast. MSRP is $31,254. They have one inbound that's the Titanium Glow with Moonstone interior and that one is awfully tempting, too, so will be plan B. It's MSRP is $29,474.

$29,873 MSRP - Prime LE with Dealer installed options - All weather floor mats, body side moldings, door edge guards, and wheel locks.
    Dealer Price - $29,500 ($373 dealer markdown)
    $5,000 Toyota Incentive
    $1,100 NYS Incentive
Price before taxes, title & doc fee - $23,400

Traded in my 2018 Prius Prime Plus with 48,400 miles for 19,000

In the end, out the door, am paying $5,399. After the federal tax credit, I am paying $897.

Did entire transaction remotely other than an hour in dealership to sign. They wouldn’t budge much on price but moved up on the trade to get it done.

Are there any incentives in CO? If not, it's better to buy from the Northeast and drive it home or ship it since there's up to $5500 incentives. There were no incentives in my region so that's why I bought my Prime out of state.

Friend has been calling 4-5 dealers in Bay Area and none has 21 XLE in stock. They did mention that the 22 are on the way but not sure about the cash back promo.

Anyone have a lead on a dealer in the NE that will ship cross-country? I’ve exhausted my options here in the PNW.

Finally locked one down in Massachusetts. I ran into more than one dealer who didn't want to deal with an out of state buyer.

    $35,644 2021 Prius Prime Limited
    - $958 discount
    - $5500 Toyota rebate
+ $498 doc fee (on the high side)
    ---------------------
    $29,684 before tax, title, etc.

After lots of searching, I was pleased to just get some money off of MSRP to be honest. I was able to find my preferred color combination of Wind Chill Pearl w/Black Interior. This rebate cycle is over on July 6th, so I was fearful with lower inventories they would at least be reduced.

Thanks to everyone who posts here to help make this an easier process!

Yeah, MA has weird temporary tags laws compared to other states.

Did the dealer tell you what you need to do if you're buying out of state?

Yes, they are offering 0.9% interest on all Prius' and also have a $1,500 rebate on Prius'. Oh, I didn't go to Denver to look at that Blue Prius Prime...my son-in-law had car problems so I helped him out. (I don't want a black interior anyway.) Since I don't buy new cars very often (last was 2005) I'll wait and get what I really want.
