I made an inquiry before I saw your update. Their quote was $1,200 higher than the ones referenced earlier in this thread.

Omg... sounds sort of similar to my experience, but a bit more blatant even.... I’m so disheartened by this last purchase experience ... I bought a leftover 2017 model in Feb 2018 from a local dealership with lots of them sitting on the lot which they then backhandedly charged me full price/ no markdown for which was different than what I was told I was being charged ... and then to top of off In had to pay for their package add ons ... I will forever be wary of car dealerships now and learned a hard lesson!!! And to top it off I’m now upside down on the value of this (apparently bad karma/negative juu juu) Prius Prime.... and in hindsight I’m still kicking myself for not splurging on the Advanced model as well!!!

Is that "$2,000 Toyota incentive" supposed to be something available nationwide or only in certain markets ?

The reason I ask is we are in South Carolina and one dealer said they don't keep any in stock and would have to order it, the best deal they said they could offer for a 2020 Prius Prime XLE (with NO extra add-ons) is $30,445 (out the door) the person said since they have been working for Toyota and the Prius Prime has been available, there have been no rebates or incentives on it. They sell for MSRP.

I was scanning thru the thread and it seems the best "out the door" price on an XLE someone got was roughly $28,500 and that was in another part of the country from us, so maybe the southeast market just does not have as good as deals as other parts of the country ?

Is the $30,445 "out the door" a good price for an XLE in the southeast market ?

    Thanks !

That's roughly what my OTD door price for a Prius XLE was in San Diego, CA (after tax, title and license and $1500 rebate). I know people in Northern California was able to really get a good deal with $2000 rebate, $500 Triathlon and $750 uber rebates plus dealer discount of around $2500.

Thanks for the reply, so I guess that roughly $30,500 OTD offer for an XLE might not be too bad then.

I still have time to research more before making any deals as we are not ready to buy until about March, but if we have to order one I wonder how long that takes ?

Anyone else have any info as to If that "$2,000 Toyota incentive" another poster mentioned is supposed to be something available nationwide or only in certain markets ?

There is currently a $3000 rebate in New York, New Jersey and Connecticut. Maryland, Massachusetts, New Hampshire and some other states have a $2000 rebate. (some west coast markets have rebates too, but there is no reason to go that far) In addition, since those states sell more Primes, they have dealers that are willing to give discounts on top of the rebates. A week from this minute, I plan to be pulling into my Kentucky driveway with a Prime I have waiting for me in Baltimore. I will be paying $27,090.78 out the door for an XLE including $1,521.78 in Kentucky taxes. This is probably the last of this particular deal (I got it in writing before the dealer said they had to stop discounting that deeply), but there are other dealerships that could make it worth your one way airfare and drive home. My second best quote was from Mike Thornton at Bill Kidd's Toyota, and I would recommend contacting him if you are interested.

Regardless - if you plan to buy before January 6, see if you can sign up to be an Uber driver and get a $750 rebate from Toyota wherever you are.

    Good luck!

I was just quoted "dealer discount" of $2650 + 2K from factory for total of 4650 off MSRP without even haggling in Concord, CA. With bit of haggling I was getting "maybe" at 5950 total off MSRP at other dealer.

Did you get it from Heritage before they changed up their pricing? I’m getting OTD quotes for around $28,000 and with SC sales tax capped at $500 it’s not a particularly good deal. Not very impressed with the deals, especially after the deluge of deals reported here just a few weeks ago.

that's an exceptional deal. In San Diego the toyota discount is only $1500 still.

Thanks, I appreciate the info and idea, but we would not be ready to buy till about March, I wonder if it would be as cheap just to have it shipped.

Anyhow, I am getting the impression that for some reason Toyota might not be offering those rebates in the southeast U.S. so we might be stuck with MSRP if we choose to buy locally. Maybe by March that might change !

    Thanks again !

Some people on here have had their Primes shipped from the northeast to Florida or Texas or I think Colorado too for reasonable prices. I just didn't feel comfortable when I came across some scary BBB reports, and this way seems like a grand adventure to me. :-D

I think SC and KY would need to pass some pro-environmental legislation that would give Toyota tax incentives to offer the rebates here. I don't know about SC, but KY isn't exactly headed in that direction anytime soon (even though my Prime will be a good friend to coal since that's where much of our electricity comes from ;-) ).

Anyway - unsolicited advice: when March gets here, if you find you still aren't in a rush, you might want to think about waiting until the 2021s come out and dealerships need to clear out the 2020s. Unfortunately, I'm pretty sure no one knows exactly when that will be. But I found a great deal on a 2019 in Florida last summer after the 2020s came out, but our daughter insists she needs an entire back seat on car trips and the 2019s had a permanent console in the middle.

IMO - you are smart to start looking this far in advance.

Yup. I suspect I was the last one. I feel a tiny bit guilty.... but not TOO guilty!

Check with Mike Thornton at Bill Kidd's. He quoted me 26,710 before taxes and fees, but I'm pretty sure it was also before the Uber discount. He was professional and checked in with me occasionally, but was never annoying.

That is something I'd tend to be leery about as far as having it shipped, that it might arrive damaged or with some blemishes, then what ? have to ship it back ?

So I might just have to find the best deal locally when I am ready.

That is a neat idea about waiting till the 2021s come out hoping it would lower prices on the 2020s.

The only thing is if the 2021s are a much improved model with even better features it might make me want to get a 2021 instead :)

The $2000 incentive allows dealers to sell this car for below invoice price. Hence you see dealers discount 2-3k below msrp and still make a profit. Anytime a dealer has to order a car for you, means they won't discount too much tho.

Toyota's incentives are likely to be greater come March so I would not worry until February about this.

Headed to pick up a 2020 Prius Prime XLE in the morning from Basil Toyota in Lockport, NY. They are 30 mins from Buffalo International Airport. You can see the full quote sheet attached.

This price includes $3,000 Toyota Cash, $750 Uber, and $500 USAT discount

2020 Prius Prime XLE - Magnetic Gray
    MSRP: 30,779
    Dealer Discount: 1,629
    Selling Price: 29,150
    Rebates: 4,250
Title & Temp tag work: 87.50

Out the door (No tags, title, or taxes): 24,987.50
I will be paying taxes back in IL so total cost for me after all that will be around $27k. They have been a pleasure to work with.

Ask for Mike Otwell and tell him David Quimby sent you. He will likely be able to hook you up with this deal. Did a lot of negotiating to get this price.

    Here is the actual car:

Even at $27K after taxes that is a great deal, congrats !!!!

If that "$3,000 Toyota Cash" would be available in our area (South Carolina) by March when we are ready to buy that would give us about the same deal, but for some reason Toyota seems reluctant to offer such incentives in the southeast U.S. region, but hoping that might change by March.

yea, I’m from Chicago and they offer $0 Toyota rebates and discounts here as well. I’m doing the 8 1/2 hour drive home tomorrow but saving $5k+ so it’s well worth it.

    Congrats on your deal !!!!

So it seems Toyota is very selective as to where they offer their rebates, I wonder what their reasoning is as to why they offer a rebate in some areas and not in others ?

27000 otd total is an amazing deal for XLE. They are stingy to Southern California buyers since we are already the bulk of all Prius buyers.
