Considering this offer in NY, any thoughts:
    2020 Prime, LE/Base in silver
    Base Price $27600
    Delivery $955
Optional equip (alloy wheel lock, allweather mats, side molding, door edge guards, rear bumber applique) $737
    = tot MSRP $29,292
    subtract Dealer Discount $790
    = $28,502
    plus NYS sales tax $2465
    = $30,967
    subtract $3000 toyota cashback
subtract $1100 NYS clean car rebate
    = $26,867 out the door

(and then subtract the $4500 federal tax credit)
Trying to decide if I should wait until December when the cashback in NY seems to increase to $4000 in the past. Any guesses?
Though from digging around this thread, it seems they manipulate the dealer discount vs the cashback. So in areas with lower cashback offer, the dealer discount seems higher. Am I wrong?

Welcome to Prius chat, $700-800 dealer discount is really bad. Try to post after negotiation pricing please, anyone can get this from truecar and post it here, and it doesn't benefit anyone on this thread.

    Disregard my earlier post.
I negotiated with a couple dealers locally in NY, best I could get so far was $790 dealer discount.

Well in that case, that really sucks. I'd personally just wait it out for the next month's rebate. Or just throw a number to the dealers like 2k dealer discount and wait for the end of the month to roll around and they may just call..

Ooof, I ran in circles for a long while, but I felt like I got a decent price to sign today. I can't seem to get people to budge closer to $3,000, but I'm glad the negotiating is over. I think I've spent 40 hours being in and out of various dealerships.

2020 Prius Prime XLE in Magnetic Grey / Black Interior
    $30,317 MSRP
    (-$1,346.55 Dealer Discount)
    $2,251.80 Sales Tax (7.75%)
    $527.75 Fees and Registration

    (-$2000 Toyota Rebate)
    (-$500 Triathlon)
    (-$750 Uber Driver)

    $28,500 OTD

Stevens Creek Toyota in San Jose. I think I'm probably banned from there now.

I will say that stuyguy is a godsend with this post. The look on the salesguy's face was priceless when I started stacking incentives using the same forms that they have tucked away in the back. I ended up having to correct them on the fine print when they tried to cheese out of accepting them. "Oh! This triathlon incentive is already part of the Toyota incentive." and "The Uber incentive only works when you finance through us."

I also just learned that you need a valid CA driver's license to get the CVRP. I just moved here, so hopefully I can get that processed soon :|

One last heads up. If you're in CA, sign up for Uber early. It took 2 weeks for them to process my background check and you need your profile to say "Active" on it.. otherwise it says "Pending"

Ok, ready to buy this week!

I already have my deal, $26,500 from multiple dealers after rebate for a 2020 XLE with carpet/mat package and rear appliqué on a $30,730 MSRP.

I’m waiting until Black Friday-any update or anyone else hear the $1,500 rebate is being bumped to $2,000 on BF?

I’m signed up and have an active Uber account for the additional $750.

If I sign up today, is the Triathalon $500 still active? I’ve seen one form which says much have an expiration date before 10/30/2020, but another one with a 11/4/19-1/20/20 date?

    Anything else I’m missing?

    Thanks-will share deal once purchased!

I got a blue XLE couple weeks ago at Hanlees Hilltop Toyota. Price was a bit better with the same rebates. MSRP was $30,770. OTD was $28,100. I did it all over email/SMS so didn't need to step into the dealership until the price was all settled.

Last year, the rebates did go up for some regions, and the increased rebates continued till the end of the year.

I was able to negotiate down to $32,000 for a 2020 Limited in Blizzard Pearl after rebates and incentives (not including sales tax). Should I pull the trigger or do you think I could get an even better deal Black Friday or this weekend? I live in Los Angeles.

In my view, there are three main things to pay attention to when negotiating a car purchase:

    1. Initial MSRP. The dealer will often add a few things in to boost the MSRP over the manufacturer's sticker. Look for things like appliqué on the bumper, etc—essentially items with near zero cost to the dealer that pretty much serve only to enable them to offer a seemingly bigger discount. I'm not sure about CA, but in TX some of these add ons are added by the dealer themselves, which means even more margin.

    2. Dealer discount. At least in Northern California, it's not terribly hard to negotiate a $3000 discount. In fact, I negotiated a $3,600 discount. But don't get too excited. It was really a $2800 to $3000 discount, with the rest kind of a fake-y discount related to the add-on items—see point #1 above.

    3. Fees. I have had a dealer outright lie to me about the fees, claiming that all were government. An example is "AVRS": this is just a software/service that helps the dealer know how much the registration and taxes are. Guess what? You can get the same thing by using the calculator publicly available on the DMV website. In any case, all of the fees—even gov't fees—are negotiable. By this I mean that obviously the gov't fees have to be paid, but who pays them is negotiable.

My two cent is to always focus on the out-the-door price (before the Uber and USAT discounts). When all the bologna is done, that price is all that you and the dealer care about.

I hope this helps a few folks out there. Good luck!

Pull the trigger! Unless the dealer is adding on marked up back-end “expenses.”

32k for a blizzard pearl (+$395 color option) Limited is a solid deal. I got to ~32265 cash, but opted last minute for Magnetic Grey to crack the 31xxx for Limited (pre-rebates)

Some dealerships are moving loads of these like North Hollywood. Quoted me MSRP no discount. Keep hunting this weekend but keep in mind CA rebate will change soon. I’m going to close mine today or tomorrow

I just closed as well and I'm glad I held out.

2020 Prius Prime Limited, Blizzard Pearl:
    MSRP: $35,188
    - $1500 Toyota Cash
    - $500 Triathlon
    - $1500 Costco Auto Discount
    - $1188 Dealer Discount
    = $30,500
    + Fees: $433.75
    + Tax: $2525.34
= GRAND TOTAL (including fees and tax): $33,459.09

If you factor in the Federal Tax Credit ($4500) and the State Rebate ($1500) that brings it down even further to $27,459.09 for the top model in an extra cost color.

    Scored my XLE:
    $30,714 MSRP
    -$2,780 dealer discount
    -$1,500 rebate
    -$750 Uber Discount
    —————-
    $25,700
    +$3,183 TTL
    —————-
    $28,883 OTD

I also had an additional $2,500 Mirai lease return credit from Toyota, so my OTD was really $26,383.00, but to keep the numbers the same as someone without the credit!
