    2020 Prius Prime XLE
    Blizzard White
    Carpet and Cargo Mats
    Door Edge Guards

    MSRP $31,313
    Negotiated price $28,500
    Cash Back $1,500
    Net Cost $27,000 + TT&L

Took a few days of emails back and forth to different SoCal dealers, until getting to a price I was willing to go with. Amazed by those that got lower prices, but this was good enough for me!

Thanks for this awesome chat group, and thanks to Toyota for what seems to be a great product (well, after only one day with the car)!

Welcome to the world of high sales tax and getting the limited one. Limited is 4k over xle, and with a basically 9% sales tax it really adds to the cost.

Oh didn't see it was the limited. Still. Crazy. Most ppl seem to be getting pricing around 26k-27k for the XLE OTD in Maryland. I may fly my happy butt there. Regards. I did that for my 2017 Prime

Lowest Ive seen for a LE was ~24,750. That was u/Ruby Red a few thread pages back. I have no idea about Limited because I am not looking for one. Few ppl in here paid in the 26k range for XLE. Im in the market for an XLE, not sure what the lowest price paid so far is on those but sure would love it if someone knew.

    Hey Mavi,

From which dealerships did you get good prices? Did you visit them or did you do everything via phone and/or email?
Best I got from email and phone was South Coast, whose price was $31,500.

I haven't visited any one of them yet. I would prefer the best pricing possible by stepping foot inside a dealership.

    Thanks.

Don't. There will be so many other things that you won't like with Kia Niro. In addition Kia Soul, which I believe to be very similar to Kia Niro, is near the top for driver death rates by make and model according to IIHS statistics.

The most recent model year for that dataset is 2014. That has ZERO applicability to new cars, most of which have been redesigned in major or minor ways since then and usually to address newer safety tests.

Thanks for the heads-up! I thought the $1,500 California CVRP was a tax credit, and I was waiting for the tax time. I immediately submitted an application. You only scan and upload four documents: completed and signed application form (last page), purchase agreement (all entire pages), registration (temporary or permanent), and front of driver's license.

I also found out that Southern California Edison has a $1,000 rebate for their customers.

Triathlon-member and Uber-driver rebates remind me the college-admission scandal with fake athletes, even though I'm athletic. I'll definitely pass.

Koons Westminster. I bought the 2017 from them as well. It’s a drive but everything was negotiated beforehand, they provided good service and they by far had the lowest price after some negotiation.

Saw this here. One still has to have the "clean special fuel" plates.

2 people in a 35 mpg car save more fuel than one person in a 55 mpg hybrid anyway- or a coal-burning car like the Prime :)

I am getting 70 mpg on the 2020 Prius Prime (with factory-fill SAE 0W-16 motor oil) in the eco mode. Virtually no nonhybrid car gets 35 mpg in mixed driving. Of course, Prius Prime is also zero-emission if you run it in the EV mode.

I'd avoid Longo. They quoted me, roughly 32K OTD for a XLE. I told them I was getting roughly 30.8K OTD, and he said do you have proof? and that he isn't able to match it because it can be fabricated. I told him I have two dealers giving me this price, and if you can beat it. I will be there that weekend. He then insisted I was basically lying so I told him bye. My last 4 toyota purchases were never at Longo, they always offered OTD prices over 1K. Same with my Lexus in 2011, they wanted 1.5K more after I showed them the actual quote. Be careful, I felt pretty disrespected.

I bought a 2009 Corolla XLE with navigation from Longo Toyota in El Monte in February 2008. They gave me only $500 below the MSRP of $21,659. Lol. I deeply regretted that I didn't get the 2008 Prius instead, which had MSRP around $25,000. If I had bought the Prius, I'm pretty sure I would still be driving it. I was unhappy with the 2009 Corolla because of its vague straight-position steering and sold it for $13,000 to Cerritos Toyota with only 9,000 miles on it about a year and a half later. While the price was really bad due to the Toyota sudden-acceleration scandal at the time, Cerritos Toyota still gave me a way higher buying price than any other dealer (which offered me around $10,000) and without negotiation.

I also heard Longo Toyota in El Monte messed up someone's oil change and caused severe engine damage.

Culver City Toyota has improved vastly since the ownership change several years back -- it used to be called Miller Toyota under different ownership.

Shop around. Always start with http://truecar.com/ first.

Most VA dealers don't stock up on prime & only few do and their prices aren't competitive. I would go to MD dealers. I bought mine from a MD dealer. You can see the price I paid few threads ago.

I'm really surprised. Just received my Prime from Longo this week, and it couldn't have gone more smoothly or easily, and with a price that other dealers wouldn't match. Jeff Chang at Longo was great!

    Thanks

Yeah, I have been shopping around several Orange and Los Angeles County dealers. So the best price I have been given is:

    MSRP: $35,313
    Dealer Discount: -$2,913
    Rebate: -$1,500
    Net Price: $32,400
    Total Price: $33,963

The rebate is misleading because here in California it is taxed, therefore, the selling price of $32,400 is the one used to calculate sales tax, license fee, doc fee, etc. The rebate of $1,500 is applied after everything is calculated.
