“Refresh”. The exterior is the same as far as I can tell, other than new wheel covers (same ones in the 2019 Prius and Corolla Hybrid)

Seems like you really should be going to Prime Energy in Wakefield since they kindly named their business after your car :D

That is what I do to find the cheapest gas on my route when I'm travelling. Prices within a 1/2 mile of each other can be amazingly different. Have to watch out for the Irving stations. People who use Irving Pay get a 5 cent discount and will post that as the price for the station.

Yap, it is covering the Greater Boston area. Unfortunately, it means 15-20 miles off from the city of Boston. I am at the heart of Boston. From here 15 miles drive takes over 1 hour. And another yes, I did look it up using zip code which gives much narrower search area. That was within 5 miles range, much more convenient driving distance. However, I did not find any great price gas anywhere near me. So, I filled up at the gas station I spotted coming into the city. I had to settle for the price tag of $2.79/gal. Still much better than CA price.;)

Salt Lake City yesterday was $3.05, today $3.09. Why is the West getting hit so hard with the higher gas prices?

That doesn't seem so large. The Seattle gas prices page covers from Federal Way (~25 road miles south) to North Bend (30 miles east) to Marysville (35 miles north). So oftentimes, the best prices are at the wrong end. Fortunately I don't live in the core, where the best prices never appear.

An hour to go 15 miles? I used to have a commute almost like that. Fortunately, most of the route had dedicated bicycle trail, much less stressful than driving. And several routes have improved since I retired.

Yap, Boston is a very compact population dense city. If I have to live in Boston city proper and work in the city, I would not want to own a car. T (Boston public transit) will work. OTOH, while many young generations use a bicycle for personal transportation, I would not dear to ride a bike in this city. No bike path, crumbling sidewalks, poor visibility on narrow and winding roads, snow to contend in winter, and mainly just brutal extremely rude and thoughtless car drivers on the roads.

You’re not in the West according to EIA. You are in what is known as PADD 4 or the Rocky Mountain area (Utah and 4 other states). You have the lowest amount of stock of the 5 PADDs and are the longest distance from ports, pipelines and storage. So you would be almost as price sensitive as PADD 5 or the West Coast.

LOL no more good deals on car prices so we're talking about gas prices now. 50 cents difference between regular and midgrade seems expensive. Who really uses midgrade? Your car requires either regular or premium. Maybe old cars or people thinking it's 99% premium so it'll do?

BTW, do you use the Gas Buddy Ap? It's a lot easier because you can choose the list or map of all the prices. When I had to pump gas, I would look at the prices along my work commute and get gas at the cheapest location. I usually get top tier gas though.

Interesting. Our fuel is not trucked in. We have pipelines running over the Mountains and 4 refineries right here in North Salt Lake.

Yup I’ve seen them. You (SLC) actually make almost all the gasoline, diesel, and jet fuel for the other 5 states in the rocky mountain region. So those pipelines actually carry product out as well as in. Unfortunately, if they have contracts to fulfill other places they get first dibs. You do have one refinery focused on making local product but its small, so it’s a bit more expensive to refine there than it would at say the gulf coast refinery who produce about an order of magnitude more gas per day.

California problem that is principally fueled by oil company greed, since our recent gas tax increase was only 12 cents/gallon. Our total gas taxes are not much higher than the rest of the country; it's the baloney excuses made by oil refiners (caused by "fires" and shutdowns, just before summer peak season) coincidentally justifying huge increases. They've got us by the short hairs, and now they're pulling!! That's why I'm currently maximizing my electric mode; currently haven't used gasoline for 3 months, though I'm driving over 1000 miles/month.

In RI, the $2500 Manufacturers' rebates are offered through 6/3 I believe. This is on 2019 Primes. I'm interested to see if that will increase to say $5000, like the offers back in Jan/Feb.

I'm getting quotes on a 2019 Prime Plus in northern California. With the current $2,500 rebate factored in, my lowest quote is $23,300 (plus government taxes and fees). Does that sound like a good price, or do I need to keep working on this?

I've got a question maybe someone here can answer. I've been looking at getting a 2018 - 2019 Toyota Certified (pre-owned) Prime Advanced, but the prices seem to be in the 30K range. These cars have pretty low mileage, so I'm guessing they're what used to be called "demo models"? Is it actually cheaper (after rebates and tax credit) to buy a new Prime?

    depends.

not so long ago, people were coming to the northeast (or at least as far as northern virginia for up to 10k in rebates and discounts. throw in the $4,500. fed credit and any state credits, and you were talking 20k for a 35k car.

So are people driving them for a bit and then turning around and reselling the cars they bought for $20k for 30K?
