Just now a dealer told me next year Fed tax credit for Prius Prime is gone, is that right? I remember a month ago I asked the forum and people think next year tax credit should be there, not sure if anything changed. Thanks!

Just purchased a new 2018 Prime Advanced from Westboro Toyota. Leo Oliverio was my salesperson. Very easy to deal with. I conducted the negotiations over the phone, with about 3 conversations back and forth over a 1 hour period. Dealership phone # (508) 366-1741

In the end with the Massachusetts EV plug in credit of $1500 and the Federal tax credit of $4200, this new Advanced cost me around $23k including the state sales tax.

A (small) added benefit (for locals) is that Westboro Toyota extends the 2 year free maintenance to 3 years (oil changes, tire rotations) and provides a 100k mile powertrain warranty as long as you do the free maintenance with them.

For anyone in MA considering a purchase of a Prime, the MA state $1500 rebate is only good for purchases made before 1/1/2019. You have 90 days to submit the rebate application. Submitting the rebate form took me all of 10 minutes.

Trim: NEW Prius Prime 2018 ADVANCED

    Exterior: Blizzard Pearl

    Interior: Black

    MSRP/List Price: $ 34,788.00

    Dealer Discount: $ (4,288.00)

    Dealer Official Selling Price $30,500.00

    Toyota Manufacturer Rebate*: (3,500.00)
*[applied on the sales contract, no additional paperwork required]

    Purchase Price [pre-sales tax]: $27,000.00

    Dealer Doc Fees [non-negotiable]: $598.00

    Additional Applicable Rebates/Credits

    MA State MOR-EV Rebate**: ($1,500.00)
**NOTE: this MOR-EV Rebate only valid for Prius Prime on purchases prior to 1/1/2019.

    US Federal Tax Credit ($4200.00)

You are correct.... Reddie was really helpful with background info/pricing. By the time I started my search a week ago DCH Milford had no more Primes available. Westboro Toyota had Primes in stock and was willing to deal.

    Were his lips moving? ;)
Not that we know. Tesla's phase-out process starts Tuesday, GM may come shortly, but the others are still good, to the best of our knowledge.

Will The Next Congress Extend, Or Kill, The Electric Car Tax Credit?

Trump administration plans to end electric-car tax credits
"... Trump's Chief Economic Adviser Larry Kudlow told Reuters that the administration plans to end the $7,500 federal tax credit by 2020 or 2021 for all automakers."

If anything changed, it is still well hidden and we haven't heard. I won't trust a salescritter's desperate words trying to make a sale today.

FWIW, I did not do a trade. I'm keeping my 2010 Prius at least thru next summer as an extra family car. Not sure if a trade would complicate or help the negotiation, but clearly you won't get a committed, quoted price including the trade over the phone like I did.

Just bought a Prius Prime Plus Trim today, 24,428 sale price from 28,528. Seems to be so few Prius Primes left in Northern California, or they're not shipped out to the dealerships yet.

OTD price 27,345.49. Not too sure how good this was, considering all the crazy Northeast deals going on :)

This is a bit "off-topic," but does anyone know what paperwork I have to complete/submit to be able to claim the 4502 on my taxes?

Tonight I became the very happy owner of a new 2018 Prius Prime!

    Trim: ............................Premium
    Color: ...........................MGM / Black
Included Options: .........all weather mats / trunk liner, wheel locks, and rear bumper appliqué

    MSRP: ..........................$30,372

Sale Price: ....................$24,201 (dealer discount + $4K rebate)

OTD Price .....................$23.6K (including: $2.5K trade-in, taxes, tags, & processing)

After Fed ($4,502) and State (MD: $100 / kWh = $880) rebates I should be looking at mid $18K in total cost. All in cost would have been nearer $21K without the trade. Either way, I can't say I've ever gotten this much car for this price before.
