Johnfromukiah, congratulations on your purchase. Did your dealer offer the $600 incentive as standard? Or did you negotiate it?

 

Purchased a Prius Prime Advanced a few weeks ago.

MSRP was $35k and some change
Paid invoice which was around ~950 below MSRP. Plus the $1000 rebate

Congrats! 2 quick questions.
1. What dealership did you buy it from?
2. What was your OTD price?

 

OTD price was $32759, It did include etching ($299) which i didn't want but dealer puts on all their cars. The dealer was Chicago Northside Toyota.

It was on the lot. I asked internet sales how long to order a Prime and she said they had one coming in July. She then emailed me a few minutes later saying her manager said they had one available now. That was on Saturday and I got it Monday afternoon. Still not sure how I was able to buy it without having to wait.

Paul Miller Toyota, West Caldwell NJ 07006. Closest airport is Newark Liberty (EWR). Call 973-882-1822 and ask for Alan Engert in sales he's the Prius expert there. He picked me up from airport the the whole transaction took less than 2 hours.

It's a smaller dealership not a lot of inventory but Alan did mention he can trade with nearby dealers to get the trim you want. I paid about MSRP and did get $2500 Toyota rebate off of the selling price. No trades, cashier check purchase.

Out the door price is relative because everyone has different tax rates and registration fees. Happy shopping!

Do you fellas notice how much variance there is in fees?! Aside from sales tax (we pay 7.75% here in Orange County California), we pay $80 for documentation fee, while I've seen as much as $400 quoted here!! That is just dealer BS packing the price! $80 is too much; $400 is highway robbery!! I did mention that I sold cars and RVs for almost 25 years!! We call that fee a pack; a dealer profit enhancer!
California does regulate that fee.

City and County of Denver charges 7.65% sales tax. On top of that Colorado DMV charges 2.1% of the vehicle price for the 1st year of plate registration.

Most dealers here list $100-$500 documentation fee which is BS also another BS fee is the etching fee? Some kind of vehicle tracking device I've been quoted $300 for this.

Dealers make you belive invoice is what they pay which is not true due to regional incentives and dealer bonus kickbacks. Buy on last day of the week, month, or quarter because dealers have quotas and sales goals.

To be fair Toyota and the G-men need to hustle to stay in business and I'm perfectly happy with my PP Advanced paid at MSRP minus the $2500 incentive

 

Hey the etching fee!! Now that's a home run!! Great profit booster! If Prii were "sexy" cars, the gangs would steal 'em. Sorry kids, they're not!! That's supposedly to track stolen parts. Yeah, like a crooked bodyshop is going to report his use of stolen parts. It could happen!!!, NOT!! The Advanced has stolen car locator and Entune car locator; you have a better chance with those, and they come with the car. Thieves are more likely to steal belongings left in a car; smash and grab! Not much can be done to prevent that; don't leave stuff in car, and dark tinted glass.

This is where I got mine but I paid MSRP in January. These seem like good deals.
