Prius Prime availability outside CA

I ordered mine from a dealer in NJ in early October. They're taking delivery on Monday apparently - I have been assigned a VIN and signed a purchase agreement. About $400 off MSRP plus the $500 rebate.

As per the dealer, they have two orders placed in October and are receiving both this week.

the closest prime to me is in DesMoines, Iowa. There are several in Michigan. How do they get them before the entire Chicagoland area even gets one?

None within 50 miles of Detroit. Mi gets its cars from the west coast via rail and then truck. Not likely to see any unordered Prime inland for quite some time. You got your PiP out of state? My locals never had the PiP even though we are mid-atlantic region. So many cats in Clawson

Maybe someone close can use this information.

 

One thing that bothers me about buying from a dealership away from your home base is having to get it serviced. I like to have my car worked on at the dealership I bought it from. Just seems like they take better care of you if you are one of theirs. Plus with the Prime I think they would have to send their mechanics to learn how to work on them properly. If he dealership sells you a Prime they should have the people to work on them as well.

What would give you that impression? From the encounters I've had, dealerships welcome business from elsewhere. Their mechanics will take any Toyota needing service. Work is work.

 

I agree. I've never had any issues with either my 2012 or my 2015 PIP at my local dealership, granted the only thing I got done was wheel rotations and oil changes.

 

however, if you ever have an out of warranty issue, toyota seems much more inclined to help if you purchase and do ALL your service at one dealership.

of course, i have saved about $20,000. over the last 15 years, shopping around for our 7 toyota's, and probably another few grande plus a lot of time by having them serviced locally.

 

Prius Prime has reached Colorado. I found them by going to dealer websites.
I think the dealer was in Colorado Springs but it may have been Denver.

For now it is certainly true that the majority of dealerships do not have the car in stock.

 

I don't think any do. I found a couple allowing you to fill out a form for notification but I didn't find one in stock on any dealer site. I have one on order and talked with two dealers, both of whom claimed the region's first allocation was in the middle of December.
