Absolutes about engineering tradeoffs are not really my mindset (as the paragraph from which the quote was taken shows). I was responding to USB who is frequently using absolutes, e.g. suggesting that lugging the engine around makes the Volt inefficient (even though my milage and efficiency far exceeds his Prius Performance).

Of course, I do see various absolutes, e.g. renewable energy to use is better petrol use.

I think its going to be a great car - though wish it was available years ago and Toyota was more agressive in pushing the engineering. I don't attack the PHV and I do/will defend the Volt as a well engineered car but will question unsubstantiated claims and bad/questionable data.

This is a sticky thread with a very particular purpose that does not include arguments about design or efficiency, which are being addressed in many other threads. :focus: Please!

can someone delete all these non topic posts so we don't have to search thru pages of useless information to find an update?

While we're at it, Paradox should combine this thread with those 2 other threads he's created regarding updates to the website and to shipping. Poor Erica (PriusTeam) is completely confused now as to where to post new information.

Good idea Tideland. I've had to delete posts in here since Tideland posted the above so...

Once again, this thread will be for Erica to post updates for us, thus no more posting in here please. If you want to show appreciation for her post, use the Thanks button.

Re: Prius Plug-in Updates (Please - No Posting in this thread except for the Prius Team. Thank You)

Thanks for clearing the path... I'm going to repost some info that I posted elsewhere since I'm still getting PMs about some of this:

Not sure if I should post here or in the Updates thread so you might see this twice:

Manufacturing Month Confirmed: date that we confirmed your order would be built (not the date your order is going to be/was built)

Your Plug-in was Built: self explanatory, eh?

In Transit to Port: on a boat and headed to the US port

Arrived at US Port: scanned at the US port.

Keep in mind, depending on the arrival time, port installed options, the weather and any other factors you want to throw in the mix (including me getting to port to inspect the arrivals and giving the go-ahead for the ports to start releasing cars), some vehicles may take a few days or even a week to get processed at the US port. Then there's delivery time to the dealer.

We're aware that there are some of you that can't see your orders right now. We're working on resetting the servers among other fixes. Please stay tuned. Orders don't disappear so if you had one last week, unless you cancelled it, it's still there[IMG]

--Update to this last paragraph: I believe that the bugs were resolved this week so please let me know if any of you are experiencing anything like this still.

    NEW:
As you've noticed, the site updates more on a real time status timeframe where as the emails are batched a few times a week.

Those of you whose cars were built, did you enjoy the images from the factory? Anybody interested in seeing the high res versions (I know you all too well, you can't wait to pick apart every little detail in each photo while you await your cars, right?). Don't worry, we'll save something special for those of you whose cars have yet to be built. Keep an eye out soon.

What else can I distract you with while you wait? Stats of the orders? Other? Oh duh, you can't respond in this thread now. Hrm...I'll use my imagination or you can start a new thread and respond there.

Lastly, for those still reading, we've updated our website Toyota.com/plugin with some fo the new EPA figures that you'll be seeing on the new EPA labels. It's not the most straightforward bit of info so again, start an EPA thread if you want and I'm happy to jump in and explain and respond to any of your questions (I'm no engineer so let's not play stump Erica, ok?).

That's all, have a great long weekend everyone!

First off, Please people, no replying in this thread. If you want to show thanks to Erica for the info please use the Thanks button.

As for the quoted area above concerning the EPA stuff on the website, I made a post about it here so we can use that thread for discussion: http://priuschat.com/forums/prius-h...ts-improved-95-mpge-rating-5.html#post1471390

Edit: I'm going to lock this thread for the weekend. Erica, let me know if you need it unlocked during that time...

Good morning all. Been to the port, the cars as you've seen on your GPS tracking are starting to arrive:cheer2:

I think I mentioned before, the first arrivals sometimes take a little longer to get through all of the processing etc but they're coming! As they get processed, you'll see the update online and receive the email.

Thought those of you with Advanced models might want to poke around here: www.toyota.com/entune but don't forget to wait until you've taken possession of the car to activate your accounts or else the clock starts on free trials. Let me know if you have questions on the goodies you find on this site. There's a lot of new info, and more to come.

Lastly...photos. I posted the first two you've seen in some emails here: http://priuschat.com/forums/toyota-prius-plug-in/103599-factory-photos-emails.html but you guys don't seem very into digging into the details of the images. You're more excited about videos that are 3 years old:confused: Got lots more, but you're going to have to show some enthusiasm to make it worth me getting the approvals from the factory to post 'em here on PC;) Tideland is close in his guess, but nobody's quite pegged the state that Blizzard Pearl car is in.

    Happy Thursday,
    Erica

Re: Prius Plug-in Updates (Please - No Posting in this thread except for the Prius Team. Thank You)

All, a quick update on the Paint Protection Film accessory (monroney code 3P) that some of you have been receiving and discussing online. This message only applies to those customers who had this accessory on their orders as of last night (3/1/12) when I ran my report.

It's come to our attention that the marketing language online is confusing as in one place it mentions it can be applied to the front bumper then in another sentence mentions that the coverage areas are sold as two separate packages (but only one package is offered online).

The language is in the process of being updated in all marketing collateral. To clarify, the Paint Protection Film accessory available at $395 MSRP does not include any coverage on the front bumper. It can be applied to the front bumper by purchasing a different accessory package that is only available directly by your dealers (not installed or offered through the port accessories, which were the options shown to you during your online orders). We apologize for any confusion this has caused.

Since it's too late to remove it for most of you who had Plug-ins built in the month of February, the Toyota Customer Experience Center (CEC) will begin calling you if you qualify as this customer beginning next week to remedy any dissatisfaction you may have with the accessory's coverage area. Please do not call the CEC as a special team will be responsible for this outreach and the general line will likely not be able to provide you with any information. If you are a customer who had this accessory on your order as of the evening of 3/1/12 and you complete the transaction with this accessory on the order, the CEC will reach out to you directly.

If you are a customer with a Plug-in being built in the month of March, you will likely be contacted by your dealer to clarify the coverage of the accessory and ask if you wish to keep it or remove it or discuss the dealer installed front bumper protection accessory and pricing. You may also feel free to reach out directly to your dealer to make any of these or other changes to your order. To prevent the accessory from being installed (if your intent is to remove it given this clarification), you will need to instruct your dealer to remove it by March 12, 2012.

Again, only a select area of the hood and fenders are covered with the Paint Protection Film (MSRP $395). For information on front bumper protection, please contact your dealer.

Thanks to those of you who brought this to our attention and again, sorry for any inconvenience.

Oh, and if you're on those 3/1/12 lists I referenced, then your My Order page should have displayed a tiny message about this starting last night. Thanks,

Please forgive me, Paradox. I hope you don't mind this update, which Toyota posted to their Facebook page today. So it "sort of" comes from Prius Team. I hope you don't mind, Erica.

Oh, forgot to include one more fun one....Which hybrid battery belongs to which vehicle? Options: Prius, Camry Hybrid, Prius Plug-in Hybrid.

I'm gonna say break Paradox's rule and post away in this thread as long as it stays on topic:)

Camry Hybrid Battery, 3rd Gen Prius battery, and Prius Plug-in battery.

But I cheated, I looked at Rebound's picture above where he labels each one (looks to be the same image too :D)

Re: Prius Plug-in Updates (Please - No Posting in this thread except for the Prius Team. Thank You)

For those with Advanced Models....there were a few early owners who were having some trouble with Remote Climate through the Smartphone Entune Plug-in Hybrid Apps. I had the engineering team put together a list of some things to know. Here it is....this only applies to the Smartphone App (please note the keyfob A/C button will work under different conditions for ex it doesn't need the battery to have EV range to work).

    Remote Climate

From your compatible Android™ smartphone or iPhone® you have the ability to remotely activate the air conditioning system in your Prius Plug-in Hybrid (available only on Prius Plug-in Hybrid Advanced). Please note that the following information applies only to the Remote Climate activation/deactivation from the Entune app installed on your Android or iOS phone. For the operation of air-conditioning system from the vehicle’s key-fob, please refer to the vehicle owner’s manual.

    • The Remote Climate app can activate the vehicle’s air conditioning system in order to reach the last set temperature within the vehicle.
    • Please note that all the following pre-requisites must be met for the Remote Climate activation to be successful.
      • Vehicle ignition must be switched-off.
      • The vehicle doors (including the hatch) must be locked.
      • The EV battery charge should not be completely depleted.
      • The cabin temperature should be higher than the pre-set temperature in the vehicle’s climate control system at the time of remote climate activation (heating the vehicle using the Remote Climate app is not supported by Prius Plug-in Advanced; Remote Climate will not activate if the pre-set temperature in the vehicle’s climate control system is higher than the cabin temperature).
      • Activating Remote Climate requires that the vehicle is in an area with Safety Connect cellular connection availability (for example, if the vehicle is in an underground parking structure or a closed garage, the vehicle’s climate system may not activate due to poor cellular connection availability).
    • If the remote climate activation fails due to any of the reasons above, the user will see an error message “Remote Climate Activation was not successfulâ€.
    • Once the remote climate is successfully activated, the air-conditioning system will stop either after 10 minutes or when the pre-set temperature is reached, whichever is earlier.
    • Note that certain accessories that were left switched-on when the vehicle was last turned off - such as the vehicle’s headlights or windshield wipers - will also function while the Remote Climate is activated.
    • Also, you may receive an error message if you attempt to run the Remote Climate immediately after it finishes the prior Remote Climate cycle.
    Hope that helps, thanks!

Re: Prius Plug-in Updates (Please - No Posting in this thread except for the Prius Team. Thank You)

Many of you have asked for an update on Prius Plug-in orders…here it goes:
We had over 2100 final confirmed orders. So far, very few cancellations. We’re polling those of you who have cancelled to learn more about why so we can try to better serve you in the case of a future program like this.

One word of caution, I know one of you posted not long ago that you thought it would be funny to hit the cancel order after you took delivery of your online order. Not wise. I won’t tell you why yet, but you might just be sad you went that route later.

Now, of those ~2100, 66% were a PiP, and 34% were for a PiP Advanced model.

27% Blizzard Pearl, 16% Classic Silver, 20% Clearwater Blue, 15% Sea Glass Pearl, and 23% Winter Gray.

All of these online orders have now officially been produced and those not already here are making their way from the factory to their customer’s dealership of choice.

891 total PiP were recorded as sold in March and 21 in February.

That’s about it for today’s update. Tune in for more info soon.
