eAssist is at least better than noAssist even if it's not the best system on the market. I'm sure that as soon as other companies give GM free use of their hybrid patents it'll improve more.

Clean Diesel is far better than dirty diesel. I suggest a trip to Central London if you want to know how bad they used to me.

Given that diesel engines aren't ever going to disappear I'm very glad of the emissions improvements. Unfortunately, one of the side effects has been that you can no longer run diesel cars on waste oils, which means in some senses Clean Diesels are getting as wasteful as gasoline vehicles, but I hope manufacturers will keep working to improve the tolerance of fuel injection systems to allow higher biodiesel blends.

They haven't improved Ni and Li batteries and FCs since then? That's a bit disappointing.

Conventional hybrid is certainly today's technology. Cordless is simply an incorrect word. Lots of incorrect words are used, but why try to create a new one.

Cordless dogs are the best at fetch. Cordless Escalades often have air conditioned seatseats, cordless politicians pander. I'm not sure what about not being able to recharge a battery makes something cordless or more efficient, but go on if you think its clever.

I believe evnow actually bought a prius before his current better for him plug-in car. A hybrid prius will certainly have better range than a BEV, but I don't see how the inability to plug it in is an advantage versus a plug-in hybrid prius.

I don't think its really up to me, but I don't find anything wrong with toyotas calling the prius I own a prius, and the plug in prius the prius phv. Older generations have added classic or iconic, but I find Gen I, and Gen II prius less confusing.

Of what, a cordless mouse has a wall rechargable or easily replaceable battery. Or are you saying the name "mouse" derived from xerox "turtle" is a great example of how you would name prius? Why don't we just call the gen III prius unicorn?

Since I actually own a Gen III prius, I do have a dog in this hunt. I would prefer if you didn't call it a unicorn or the cordless prius.

 

My Toyota dealer (Toyota of Braintree) is telling me pre-ordering for the 2012 PHEV opens on August 2nd in MA (Tommorow), we'll see if we get the emails, for those of us that signed up on the website.

I test drove a Nissan Leaf in Boston on Saturday, nothing special, nice car, but I prefer to have a PHEV, some days I drive more than 70-100 miles.

Well, it's more likely since you live on the East coast.

As the NPRA gently puts it "The East Coast is dependent on supply from distant sources." Gasoline is often imported from refineries in France in particular, so you'd be using oil from wherever French companies source their petroleum, which means Russia, Libya, Norway, Saudi Arabia, Kazakhstan, the UK and other nations.

(Interesting fact: the USA become a net exporter of fuel earlier this year. A lot of imports are refined on the Gulf Coast and then exported to Mexico, Brazil and even Europe. The weak dollar is helping make US exports cheaper.)

 

According to Dianne in So. Cal, the priority registration will be closed on August 21, 2011. My guess is after unveiling the car in September, they will give details/press release information and later a projected date for special order.
