Prius PHV Plug-In Updates?

If we have a Camry plugin, the regular hybrid version would be "Camry liftback"? It won't work.

I have been using cordless to indicate "no plug". It can be applied to MPG, emission or any other hybrids from different manufacturers. liftback can't be applied the same way.

noplug sounds good and easy to type. noplug Prius and plugin Prius.

 

Of course not, it would be "Camry sedan".

 

My brother has a hybrid camry, but he has never even asked, what he should call a camry. I guess you want to call both of them cordless, or maybe call the camry, the freedom camry, because it has the freedom from being a hybrid:juggle:ound:

And the winner is: StuffOnARock got it right in my opinion. I think everyone would agree that it is simple.

I went back and corrected it. Plug-in, the adjective to describe this type of Prius, "Plug-In Prius"

 

You guys are really going to be dumbfounded when Toyota releases the full EV version, a pure EV with the Prius body but no ICE, that's going to be called "Prius EV", or "Prius ICEless"

 

Evnow would be very upset about this, 'cause he thinks using cordless is some sort of a scam!

 

Regular makes way more sense than liftback.

But realistically the most accurate, likely most acceptable identifier, that's also unique enough to prevent confusion is: UBIQUITOUS

I get the flow of it now. So there will be Highlander plugin and Highlander SUV, Prius V plugin and Prius V wagon, etc. It still requires me to think as it can't be applied universally.

I too prefer 'regular' to indicate the standard hybrid with no plug but searching for it would not be easy.

 

That's a good one. I actually had to look it up.

 

Now you know Toyota will end up calling the "regular" Prius the Prius Classic or the classic Prius. It gives it a more classy name than original which may denote its no longer made. Cordless probably wouldn't be good in the long run because it might get confused with the "soon to be released" Prius c.

my 2 level parking garage in downtown Boston (only about 50 cars total), has 4 Prius's parking in it everyday, thats 1 in 12 in downtown Boston.

 

Cambridge has more......its the only place that the Prius can be called "common"

Boston overall has if anything less than 1 in 35.

The variance is very high on a day to day basis.

I've been keeping track for 2 years - sample size over 2 million cars.

 

What ever we say here, my bet is that it ends up "Classic Prius" and "Prius PHV Plug-In".

wow, before coming to this forum i never realized that the word "cordless" had so many…apparently negative…connotations. or positive? i'm confused now.
nor can i figure out how any of this has to do with "Prius PHV Plug-In Updates"…
