Prius PHV Plug-In Updates?

Thanks, that was a "Duh" moment for me, I should have thought of that, absolutely!

But did Toyota release this picture?, if so, these wheels will be available on the plug-in.

After spending some time looking closely at the high res picture, it seems that we are looking at a nice wheel cover with the inner part coated in gun metal powder color?

 

Yea, I wonder how it looks "naked" with the cover off. The tire size is really weird, if not non-existence (tire rack doesn't have it).

I hope the production US version use something more common.

Did you notice the defogger in the rear "triangle" window?

 

I thought they were alloy wheels at first. So the base or standard trim will have the covers and Premium will have alloy wheels.

Yes, Defogger in the rear quarter window. I would like to see the tail lights!

 

Awesome :thumb: Where do you guys find all this stuff? I try, and only find the usual Toyota site that has basically nothing on the car. My wife is very very excited to hear of the mpg figure. That alone would put a big damper on considering an Elantra. Looking like the decision needle is pointing back to Toyota once again :eyebrows:

Don't think so. Current rims are either 15" or 17". This one is 16". I am not sure if UK had 16" for Gen3 cordless Prius.

 

Only the T3 has 15" wheels. T4 and T spirit have our current Prius Five wheels. 16" is new!

 

I just downloaded the photo of the production Plug-in Prius from the Toyota Great Britain website. Notice the 4-wheel disc brakes that have been talked about. Also the Plug-In receptacle has been move from in front of the driver's door - my guess - right rear quarter panel opposite from gas filler door. (I can't post the link because I haven't made 5 posts yet.)

I agree that it is a photoshop job.

When I look closely at the high resolution version I can see the steering wheel on the left. This is a "representation" of the 2012 Prius. We will see photos of the real thing soon enough. It is nice work but they should have checked it better.

 

This is the Frankfurt Auto Show. They drive on the right in Mainland-Europe and their steering wheels are on the left. So, the steering wheel location is correct for Europe. It's only across the channel in the U.K. where they drive on the left and the steering wheel is on the right.

 

Wonder why the UK people drive on the wrong side of the road :twitch:

All 3G Prius have disc brakes on all four corners. The rear discs are solid rather than vented, but that's because the front brakes take so much of the braking force (if you stop hard).

In the UK and I think the rest of Europe, the 2G Prius also had all-round disc brakes on all trim levels. Mine certainly does.

We started doing it a couple of hundred years ago, and it's far too difficult to change over for no real benefit. Driving your horse or cart on the right-hand side was made an offence in 1835.

 

Agree! then the plug-in port should be on the right side!

And also should the plug-in hybrid badge should be straight!

 

My vote is on the rear quarter opposite side from the gas filler side.
