I've got a couple of 2008 Prii. In Colorado it makes sense to lift them both for snow and curb scraping. The $700 price tag before install makes them out of reach. $350 is a bit steep for an older car. $250 is do able. But I dont know how there demand is.

Hey, so I got a lift from Prius off-road and I love it! Drivability is way improved and that alone has made the terrain I navigate camping much easier. I will be ready to take the next step to bigger tires soon. Do you have any experience with the difference between 215/55 and 215/60? I have 17 inch wheels. For 15s I guess it would be the difference between 215/65 and 215/70. I’m not sure if the extra inch of clearance is worth it is I can save on mpg and handling with a slightly smaller tire. I am planning on sticking with all seasons.

I just installed the lift kit on my 2019 Prime. The kit does change the caster, but that may have been designed to center the tire in the wheel well. Maybe Prius Off-road can chime in regarding that.

On a side note, I compared my speedometer to a gps app and at 70mph on the gps, the speedo is reflecting 73.

Let’s see how accurate the speedometer is after new tires.

I just had Yokohama Geolandar G015 P215/70R15 installed. So far so good. 17A0D16F-1E90-4B6F-A592-001CD88987E7.jpeg 4E775452-86ED-4ECF-92B3-EAC9478814F0.jpeg 9A9E0B06-CC82-475F-9BC8-540762AE621F.jpeg

No rubbing at all. It did lose some electric performance, as the gas engine kicks in sooner. The speedometer is closer to accurate now.

Thanks for the info on the tires. I don’t have a prime so I’m in hybrid mode all the time. I’ve heard that is causes a 5-10% decrease in mpg.

I spoke too soon on reporting that the gas engine was kicking in sooner, the battery was depleted. Everything appears normal, although road noise is higher. I may have to insulate.

With the P215/70R15 Geolandar tires, when the GPS shows 70 mph, the speedometer reflects 68 mph. That’s a 5 mph difference with the tires. I’ll bet the actual top speed is now 109 or 110. So far, I haven’t noticed a difference with the MPG.

If 68 indicated is 70 on your setup, then 102 indicated will be 105. It rev limits the electric motors at 104 indicated, so you'll top out at 104 indicated, 107 actual GPS. I've held 104 indicated out west a few times (saw 105 indicated for half a second only one time), on 205/65R15 at 50psi, and that was pretty much still only 103-104 GPS. On 205/70R15 on another trip, I either didn't do a speed run all the way to 104, or did so but didn't bother checking GPS speed, so it wasn't worth making a mental note of it.

My top speed is 106 MPH on the speedometer. I haven’t gone that fast with the new tires, yet. On another note my average MPG is down .3, since installing the Geolandars.

New prime 2022, I'm considering the 1.5 lift inch kit. I really don't intend to go off road or add larger tires but I'm thinking it's a cautious move just in case.
Would like opinions on the pros and cons of this move.
    Thanks

I have had the lift in my car for almost a year. I have not changed the tires size (yet). I can tell you that the mpgs are exactly the same, the car handles exactly the same, I no longer scrape on curbs and it’s nice to ride a little higher. I see absolutely no draw backs to it whatsoever.

did a little trail cruising by the lake after paddling and wanted to see how far my car could go with 215/45-17 stock sized tires and the 1.5 inch lift. It did much better than I expected but the limiting factor was clearance. 215/60-17 will be my next purchase for that extra clearance.

I installed the Prius Off-road lift kit within a week of picking up my 2022 PP. The best decision I made to avoid front trim damage and driving in snow. The install is a relatively straightforward FIY.

Had an alignment done after I completed the install and they had no problem dialling it back into Toyota’s specs.

Cannot come up with any cons.

I posted a install review if you want some tips. Prius Offroad 1.5" Lift Spacer Review | PriusChat

    Hey all,

Finally got new tires. I went with 215/55r17. It was a good compromise between a lift and not cutting into the mpg too much. I have noticed a tiny change in mpg but not too noticeable. I noticed there is a 1/10 of a mile error in mileage but that is easy to calculate when filling up. Totally worth it! Between the 1.5 inch lift from Prius off-road and they tires, it’s pretty good clearance!
