Nope, because you don't attach the fob to your keychain. What would be the point, when you NEVER need to take the fob out of your pocket unless you change your pants?
Good point. I even put mine in my left pocket, so I rarely ever notice I have it... Waiting for the implant!
<_< Owner's Manual - Section 2-1 "Operation of Instruments and Controls - Keys and Doors" - pp 18-26, 29, 36, 44. There's a wealth of information in your Owner's Manual.
Not that you're being unnecessarily belligerent, Charles, but the person who started this thread does not own a car, much less an owner's manual...
When I first heard of the SKS, I thought it would be like those speed passes at Mobil. My main thing would be to make a necklace out of it. Seeing how huge this is (because I am not a hip-hop artist), I am starting to consider another approach.
[attachmentid=1144]my european fob.. Without the panic button. Don't think you can get that function here in Norway.
yes....because i own a prius and therefor have access to the manual. i recall asking what it looked like anyway, not information on 'the operation of instruments'. pfft. and to everyone else, thankyou
Just a fast post for all you SKS and non SKS folks...the smartest thing I ever did, was go to the Toyota dealer and just purchased and had cut the extra SKELETON key, not the whole FOB. Then at Walmart bought a magnetic KEY box. I attached the magnet box in the rear area under the bumper, I drilled a hole in the KEY BOX, and used a long plastic tie or a string of some sort, to keep the box attached in case of a heavy bump or road bump, and of course the EMERGENCY key stays in there. Now for whatever reason if I get LOCKED OUT, I just use the mechanical key and get in!! The skeleton KEY part only COSTS $12.00 all cut and done, and the little box at walmart was $2.79... WORKS like a champ, already got saved one time!!
Can You Mix SKS and Non-SKS Key Fobs? My 06 package 8 is coming soon and I want to buy a spare fob to keep inside the car, with the small key in a hide-a-key outside. If I keep the SKS fob inside the car, I either have to remove the battery, or wrap it in something to shield the entry signal from being on all the time. Can I (can Toyota) program a non-SKS fob to work with the SKS system?
You can use a regular Toyota key blank from home depot or wherever you get keys. Only $2 instead of $12.00. By the way, put the extra SKS fob in an Altoids tin. Nate
I wonder how those emergency plastic keys work. They go in the wallet. AAA used to make them free if you were a member.
Really? I thought that the Non-SKS fob would at least let you open (and lock) with the buttons and start the Prius by putting the fob in the slot. Too bad.
Keep your eyes open , there's a guy in Texas looking underneath the rear bumpers of Toyota Prius's...Priuses...Pria...Priui...whatever
He's going to pull the whole bloody dash board out so he can sell the stereo and Nav system   , i'd pay to watch an idiot kid break into a Prius to think he's gonna steal the thing hahah
Seriously. I bought one of those stealth-plate stereos for my Kia, the ones that just have a black plate. Not expensive, but I liked it. Someone decided that it might be an expensive one, broke my window and tore it out. After that, I got an alarm. Also had a decent MP3 player until I traded up for the Prius. Must be theves don't know the resale value of Prius parts yet...
