2019-12 = 7 years in april. 60,000 miles and 6,000 miles/year, i guess it's possible.

i wonder if li-n with mucho years and low miles will do better than its nimh brother

we are about 180000 miles
so about 14,400 miles per year less these days though

 

one thing i recall - & not to take away by any means from hybrid longevity, some here have pointed out that there is a general trend for all car manufacturers products to be kept for longer times.

The thing I find hilarious is that people still think the Prius don't last very long because....'the battery'. And these are very smart people who should know better. I just tell em to keep an eye out for all of the older Prius vehicles that are still on the road...and there are a LOT of Gen2's around our town...even in a somewhat harsh MN environment.

Our family has 4 priuses. The two oldest (2010) have started burning oil (125,000 and 140,000 miles). A quart or two every 3000 miles. Result? One prius sold. The other, probably will get sold soon. I was hoping for longer. Original brake pads, and there is still much life left in them. But consumption of oil was a bad surprise.

Yep..the 2010 seems to be the 'bad' year as far as consumption goes. Much discussion about it around here in the past couple years. However, the 2010's are likely to be the Gen3's with the most miles...so the jury is still out in it.

Question...did you disclose the oil consumption when you sold it?

 

I wish I am in the same league. One reason or another, my car never survive much beyond 10-year mark. For sure, rust takes its toll on any car driven in NE winters, Prius or not.

so it might be us cheapskate plugin & hybrid people just keep them on average longer, because we don't want to spend the money.

very easy to explain: those are the cars driven by the AARP card holders.

note: no offense meant. simply low mile cars that last forever (if used in rust free zones). i have a car like that that is incidentally on the list too.
