It's quite a hike from Long Island, but at least it's on the way to my brother's house in Ontario (Sarnia).
Outside of the Very Large Array (VLA) in New Mexico. If you have never been there it may be hard to fathom the size of the dishes themselves. They are not the biggest, but they are huge. There are 3 in the background and each one is 25 meters in diameter, weigh 209 tons, and can be moved into various positions to act as a single collector.
A few pics from my "maiden voyage", driving our salvage/rebuilt '05 home from Steve Woodruff's in IN to AZ in 2007. Mostly freeway, but following the old path of Rt 66, stopping for some pic opportunities along the way to keep myself from going batty (Spot the Prius) Rob
The wind turbines in OK were particularly cool, as they were in the process of being constructed. Got to see a number of the components on the ground, which were so much bigger than I had imagined. The turbine had to be school bus sized, and a single blade required a special stretched tractor trailer flatbed. I also really enjoyed the juxtaposition of driving a Prius (the future of the automobile) through these areas along Rt 66 that were so entwined with the past of the automobile. Rob
Oh that's so cool! My boyfriend has a 76 Super Beetle that's been in the family since it was brand new! He loves that car haha. Can't wait to show him this photo!

Not convinced this is particularly "rare", but here's a shot of my Prius C in British Columbia's Fraser Canyon last December.
Yikes! Hope everything is okay now. Nice car. My 2012 is beginning to look dated - don't get me wrong - I like my car. But the new ones sure are pretty.
Nice pics of your car and cats. Your car does have a certain cat-like quality. Our dog - she likes the Prius - our cats not so. Cats know a car ride leads to the vet's office. Dog likes riding - right up until we pull into the vet's parking lot. Our previous dog loved going to the vet - he would actually pull me toward the door.
