First run 18.531 Best run and most fun run !!! Prius VS Prius Cooling the engine and battery Gutted all but the spare tire Hoping someone filmed it.
Looks like your reaction time is getting better. Have you been working on your launch? I know it may be a PITA..but you might bet some better times if you go ahead and swap out all your wheels and not just your fronts back to OEM for the time trials. That will shave more rotational weight, could help your 60ft times and possibly help your overall 1/4 time.
Thanks! Might experiment with e-brake launching. Thats the plan next time, all stock wheels. Want to take my spare out but it's an 45 minute drive back home and nobody wants to get a flat near down town STL. Maybe I can bike chain it to the fence at the place while I drag. haha
Whats up man its Jesse, the black Prius from Gateway! I actually have a couple buddies who got video of our run but they only uploaded them Facebook, I will get them to put em up on Youtube for you to have as well. It was good fun! Looks like you have had some better runs in the past and really we should be pretty close to dead even. Hope to do it again sometime in the future.
Awesome! I'll let ya know when I go next.!!! Be fun to get a couple runs in next time. With and without power mode. haha
What psi are you running f/r? I'd think you should keep the front tires a little low and the back high. Make sure you have any extra weight removed including your spare, and all other easily removable items like mats, etc. If you really want to get nutty, bring bagged ice to place on the intake before each run.
Unless he's breaking traction..spinning his tires, not sure how running a lower tire pressure will help him...might actually hurt his ET.
Didn't go as much because the event started 2 hours late due to another hot rod event before. Annoying night but got my best run yet in right off the bat. Sadly my intake filter came in one day too late but in time for a car show. Lots of lookers and thumbs up at the track and show. I'll have my intake fully built out and no back seat next race.
Last autocorss of the year. No spare tire or front seat and new cold air intake. Started off at 64 and after a few runs got to 61.618, not the slowest time. Tire dust
I raced at this location before but the track(s) are different lengths and setups each time. Wondered the same thing on my second autocorss. The GT mustang next to me was only about 10 seconds faster on this track. People were spinning out all over this track.
That is so cool!! There will be a time for us at the drag strip. Prius C versus Prius II, etc, etc. Thats what I would want to see. Great job on being bold enough to do it in front of the "nay sayers". Apexi races are next!
Good to see you getting out there with the big boys Sezy. 2nd Gen Prius can run 11.1-11.2 in the 1/8th mile. Air your tires up to 50-55psi for less rolling resistance and it will likely knock a tenth or 2 off. Also be mindful of how much fuel is in the tank. I usually ran with 1 or 2 pips indicated on the gauge. Same for autox. The biggest issue you have with these cars and performance driving is heat, both in the inverter and HV battery pack. I added a 1st gen Prius inverter radiator and a battery fan controller (directions from this forum) on my old 2nd gen car. Also, force charging between runs will bring SOC back up but will also build heat so don't over do it. B mode is preferred especially in autox because it will prevent the engine from shutting down when you're off throttle which will quicken response time when you do get back on it. Also, a more autox specific alignment will help dramatically as will a set of competition tires. Prius makes up in handling and braking what it lacks in power, make it do both of those things better. You can probably dig around and find some of my threads from my 2nd Gen and 3rd Gen builds and competitions.
Final Drag Race of the year Prius in the sunrise awaiting to unleash the fury Next year I'm doing this with my spare! So happy I got to race a TL. My last car was TL with lots of bolt on power mods just like this guy. I was in Base with traction off. He had traction off too in Drive. 2-3 second difference in times is nuts. Feel like I wasted so much money on my last car upgrades if it's only 3 seconds better than a Prius.haha The track took my picture and has it on their site!
Raced my dad from a stop light. Didn't help I have my 17's on. Think this is my clue to stop trying to upgrade my prius and get a new one.haha
Last open track of the year and only run I did this year.2016 Into the Lions den. There were other cars and trucks slower than me. I recall a corolloa and Miata that ran 19s.
