BT - I have just had the same problem with my 2005 Prius. Dealer claims a bee flew into my MAF sensor and destroyed it. Can you please let me know what your dealer charged you to replace it? They want over $600 (parts & labor) for mine and I find that outrageous.

    THANKS!

The Mass Air Flow Sensor has an MSRP of $166.36 (courtesy of Champion Toyota Gulf Freeway in Houston, TX - their discount price is $126.43). Replacing it is a matter of taking off the plastic radiator cover at the front of the engine bay once the hood is opened, unbolting the old sensor, and bolting in the new one (using a new O-ring to seal it against the air cleaner assembly), then replacing the cover. Sounds like a ten-minute job to me.

Toyota do recommend disconnecting the 12V supply before replacing practically any electrical component, which requires re-initializing the driver's side window auto-up/down position sensor once reconnected. To do this, you have to turn the car on, open the window half-way, then pull up on the switch to fully close the window, holding the switch for at least one second after the window is fully closed. Auto-up/down should then work correctly.
