Prius catalytic converter thefts ....

Our neighborhood had 6 gen2 cat thefts in one night a week ago, rowhomes with doorbell cam's 10-15' from the street parking, all night dogwalkers in our dense neighborhood next to a park...and no-one noticed a thing. These cats are just WAY TOO easy to steal. Now the local muffler shop has two-week backlog on work and is waiting on sheet metal to weld new shields for everyone. I just canceled comp. ins too. No body will fix for under $1100. ugh...

 

I'm in Houston. On a Monday/Tuesday Night The crooks cut the bolt off the fire department gates. Then they came in to our gated complex and ripped off the cat off my 07 Prius.

 

I had my CC Stolen while I was working overnights at Amazon Fulfillment Center in DuPont, WA on 02/19/21. Had to get my car towed to a mechanic shop and the total cost for replacement is $4000. Today 05/10/21 My car is still at the shop and am still upset because I'm having a hard time keeping up with getting a transportation to work and my insurance can only cover 500 of it and my work place won't even help me out since it happened while I was working. Victims shouldn't have to be the ones to suffer paying for thieves damaging our cars. What's worse is that I still financing the car that I can't drive so it's harder to come up with the fix on the car. And police wrote "Case Closed" on the police report because they could only see the thieves van but couldn't get any more details such as license plate. Really need help.

What is your deductible? Because it sounds like a $3,500 deductible, which seems a bit high. Regardless of the cost you should have pressured the insurance company to pay for everything except the deductible. If your deductible is $500, you shouldn't have to pay more than $500. If it's $1,000, you shouldn't have to pay more than $1,000. So I would pressure the insurance company. Ask them, "why do I have to pay thousands of dollars if the agreement is that I have such and such as a deductible?" Tell them your situation. Tell them that you feel like they've deceived you.
