Prius c Concept

So this car should be closer to a ct 200h in size, height and much less weight.

Also, does anybody know if this car will be unveiled at the 2011 L.A. Auto Show scheduled for Nov. 18-27.

 

I looked at the Youtube video - it doesn't look like anything we have here in EU - it is not a Yaris, not an Auris (similar in size though) - it looks more like a 4th gen Prius with a "chopped off tail"...
Curious to see toyota.co.jp website when the "Aqua" will be out...

Pics from the leaked brochure. It also said 1.5 liter HSD with 100hp. The car weights under 2,400 lbs. It weights about the same as the non-hybrid competition. It even weights less than the Honda Fit(?) mild hybrid.

Fuel economy gained 16.5% under JC08 test cycle over the regular Prius. I guess we should expect 58 MPG in the US.

So this looks like a 5% improvement (40/.38) over the regular Prius to me.

 

With 100 combined HP and less than 55 MPG Toyota fails to find a niche for this car. It's not sporty and it's not super economical. It's JUST small.

 

I believe it is wrong. I was looking at the JC08 numbers from the brochure.

Regular Prius is rated 30.4 km/L while Prius C is rated 35.4 km/L.

 

So that would be 16% better making it 58 MPG for the US. Since the ICE is 22% smaller I would have thought they could have hit 60 MPG. Like the Gen III 50 mpg, the C at 60 mpg makes for good advertising.

 

I'll keep my fingers crossed.

Unrelated -- where are the people who bitched and moaned over the split rear window in the regular Prius ? That should be reason enough to want this model

 

I like the exterior. It looks like no climate control and 100hp seems way under powered. So how much does a Japan release tend to be different form the American release? I assume options like the headlight washer will not be in the American release.

 

Isn't this thing supposed to have the the same ICE/HSD setup as the standard Prius only mated to a shorter and lighter body?

 

Numbers from japanese to american test don't translate well. I would expect less than 58mpg, not more. Also the brochure says it is 1.339 L engine, which is smaller than I would expect in an Toyota american car.

Okay, it's not a rebadged Yaris, but damn, i wish it was! It's hideous! Atleast it should be relatively efficient and 100hp is enough for a car of this size, although it's missing the trademark Prius gear shifter

 

f expect it could do it in the city, but not on the adjusted highway figures. The smaller engine makes it tougher to get good highway numbers.

 

The Jazz isn't a mild hybrid. It's a downsized IMA.

 

1.339L is the competitor in the table, belongs to the Honda Fit/Jazz hybrid hood, actually.

We can see the Prius c / Aqua holds a 1.497L ICE developing 54kw/74hp and 2 electric motors summing 45kw.

 

I sure hope so. It seems the gap between Prius and Prius C gets wider for more aggressive test cycle. It makes sense since the weight is so different. Going by that, 60 MPG is possible in EPA cycle.
