Prius 2 Eco 2017 Extended Warranty?

    Here I see what I refer to as "guitar strings". They have sprayer trucks spraying some ice melting solution, and you can see distinctive multi "string" markings along the roads. Still, I think we get off light compared to interior or back east.

    I'm not really sure though, maybe the consistently cold conditions are better? Around here could be a perfect (rust) storm, they salt the roads when it's sub-zero, then a week later it's wet and splashing up.

    I first raised the car at the front/central jacking point and put jack stands at the two forward scissor jack locations, in between the two notches on the rocker panel pinch weld seam. I'd suspect fourth gen is very similar. But: I was completely unimpressed by those scissor jack points. Unlike past Hondas where they reinforce those points with another layer of plate, and bend the edge to produce a bit of a flange, the Toyota points are just marked points, nothing thicker, and really a knife edge, when used with a safety stand cradle.

    I subsequently researched a bit, found some instruction on 2nd gen safety stand alternative support points, translated that to comparable points on third gen, and I'd suspect you could fine similar on your fourth gen.

    For the front end, which is most critical/heavy, I'm putting my jackstands at the leading end of an underbody rail, just a bit inboard of the proscribed scissor pinch weld location. It's really just a unibody thickening with a section maybe 1.5" square. It's pretty obvious when you look at the underside. I'll post some pictures, but obviously this will vary from fourth gen. Might be similar though.

    For alternate jack stand location in the rear, I'd suggest to look for a reinforce area, just inboard of the scissor jack bearing point, with an oblong opening (roughly 1.5" x 0.75"), likely with a rubber cap. This is apparently for use with a locator/locking pin during shipping, and the whole area is heavy gauge, reinforced. This is what I use on 3rd gen, for rear positioned jackstands.

    All the same here too. In addition our mountain passes get so much deicers that it will melt a inch of snow it seems. The whole car is covered whith a white coating of chemical after traveling the passes in the winter. I may continue to use the suburban for winter passes. 15 mpg lol
