Frunk? Yes, it does, if this is usable. I'm not so sure. But do I want anything semi-valuable in there in case of a crash? That's the crumple zone... Between the tiny frunk and the cave-like entrance to the rear, the model 3 looks like the only real cargo space is the back seat. Again, though, this is a reveal photo from a year ago.
Yeah but something would intrude, it always does. At the least they'd put a lexus grille on it. BTW: "frank"?
150 handles 95% of my driving, but I'm not walking for the other 5%, especially since those are 200-3000 miles each.
So let's compare the Prime's usable space to other vehicles. Prius Plug-in VDA: 443 litres (+40.5 litres under the floor) Prime VDA: 360 litres (12.7 cu ft). (For reference, US numbers are 19.8 cu.ft (560 litres). Vehicle VDA SAE 1 Gen 4 Prius w/ spare 457 litres 696.6 litres 2 Gen 4 Prius w/ tire repair kit 502 litres 775.9 litres 3 Gen 4 Prius E-Four 457 litres N/A (assumed same as w/ spare 4 Prius Prime 360 litres 560 litres 5 Civic Hatchback 478 litres (to the windows) 727.7 litres 6 Ford Focus Hatchback 277 / 313 / 363 litres to the tonneau cover (tire repair kit / temp spare / full size spare) 659.6 liters 7 Mazda3 Hatchback 364 litres (to the beltline) 572 litres 8 Mazda3 sedan 419 litres 350 litres 9 Elantra GT 395 litres 651 litres 10 Ioniq Hybrid 443 litres 750.4 litres 11 Ioniq PHEV 350 litres 651.3 litres 12 Ioniq EV 350 litres 651.3 litres Go figure, the Mazda3 sedan's trunk is smaller using SAE vs. VDA. . Basically the Prime is inline with the compact hatchbacks and behind the ridiculously large Civic. Also, can someone double check the Ioniq PHEV numbers for me please? As a side note, @RCO what is happening in the UK? The Honda website uses trunk and curb. I recently watched a review and the reviewer said "stroller"!! Brexit = Brenter America?
I really don'tknow how they get these results ? The 350 litres of the Ioniq E/PHV for sure seems to be quite a bit larger than the Primes 360 litres ! The Ioniq E trunk :can be seen at about 12.56 of the video :
Tideland's numbers above are in conflict with numbers I posted earlier in this thread. WJT posted few weeks ago: >>>Just found this re: UK Boot space (which is a better measure than USA)- "Plenty of head, shoulder and legroom is assured for all occupants and in keeping with the Ioniq’s green credentials, the materials used inside are ‘eco-friendly’. Boot space is claimed to be best-in-class, thanks to the batteries being placed under the rear seat instead of under the boot, as is typical of other hybrids. The IONIQ Hybrid and Plug-In have 443 litres of boot space, while the Electric has 350. This eclipses the Toyota Prius by around 100 litres and can be expanded to 750 litres if you fold the rear seats flat." That's impressive the IONIQ Plug_in has the same cargo space as IONIQ Hybrid? Seems to say that. The last sentence appears wrong as Prius (Gen4-Hybrid-no spare) has 502-liters which would be more than IONIQ Hybrid, but the IONIQ Plug-In is 443-liter vs. 360-liter for Prime (by EU method), so there is approx. 100 more liter in that case. {end quote} Something is wrong with Tideland's IONIQ PHEV volume I think maybe. also Tideland's reference to 443 seems to be IONIQ not Prius.
