Minnesota isn't part of the original rollout market, so we have to tough out special-order only until the second wave.

Fortunately, the inventory in those other markets is increasing and the sales swings are growing. That's a good sign. It's right on time for the upcoming PHEV expansion announcement too.

With regard specifically to Minnesota, efforts are underway to become a ZEV state. That will result in a push for automakers to provide local supply. In also means new incentives. Work to provide public chargers is building. There's also an HOV access program starting next month.

Stay tuned. 2020 will bring about change.

3 years is a long rollout....

Thanks for the info on the HOV access program. I see from the MnPASS site that it's a one time credit of $125.00. I'll hopefully be able to take advantage of it soon.

Depends upon your perspective. I started support of Prius back in 1999. Despite more to come still, a lot has been delivered since then.

Yes - I remember you from the pre-PriusChat days (Usenet??) as I was looking at the 2004 Prius. This Prime will be replacing the 2004 that we bought 16 years ago.

It appears only 4 primes are available in all of Texas right now. The state has a population of 28 million. I know many Texans are pickup whores, but this low inventory seems a bit of a misstep for Toyota, if they actually want to sell Primes.

Could you mean Gulf States Toyota, a subsidiary of The Friedkin Group, which owns a franchise monopoly on the region?

Gulf States Toyota. Toyota USA has little say.

Hmmm, high volume Tundras typically sell for high 30s to low 50s versus a low volume sedan that sells for high 20s. Me thinks Gulf States Toyota knows exactly what they want to sell.

And it's the same here in the SE states which lies victim to what I hear is the only other privately owned Toyota distributorship. Both distributorships apparently suffering from the same cranial-rectal co-mingling syndrome called short-sighted greed.

Decendents of "Jim Moran the Courtesy Man" of Courtesy Chevrolet here in Chicagoland back in the 50s and 60s. Quite the legend.
How Jim Moran turned JM Family Enterprises into a $15 billion company

Had a Pontiac Dealership at TelTwelve in Detroit back in the 80's across the street from the Penske Chevy Dealership.

Anyone else ever heard a service writer explain to another customer what needed to be done to their car, while in the service waiting room?

Good thing Tesla that Toyota is on a limited run of Prime, it seems to me like Prime is close to the only real sales competition for them at lest these last 3 years on this side of the pond.

How big is Auto in the world economy and who is making up the regulations of who sells what, where and when?

each manufacturer dictates sales and production goals. southern u.s. and hawaii fall outside the typical dealer network.
but i bet if you could find inventory numbers in all 50 states, it would paint an interesting picture.

Toyota knew 2020 would bring a mid-cycle upgrade for Prius Prime.

Toyota knew 2020 would bring about the rollout of RAV4 Prime.

Toyota knew 2020 would bring an end to tax-credits for Tesla.

Let's not forget the perceived competition for Prius Prime either. Every time it got a mention, someone would always squeeze in something about Volt, despite its obvious mismatch to customers. Toyota knew 2020 would bring an end to tax-credits for GM.

In other words, it simply made no sense to go beyond a limited run until 2020.

Southeast region still has an extreme shortage. I’ve been trying for over a month to try to get one and I still haven’t been able to find one. They occasionally pop up but they sell immediately and the dealers won’t trade to other dealers.
