I used Russel Toyota in Baltimore. Charles wicks was my salesman. Just an awesome experience. However I have found that the incentive is 3,500 in MD however three other states have 6,500 off that is why I have been relatively quiet on the recommendation of the dealer. Someone posted that NY and NJ are offering 6,500 off on the advanced so good luck!
Russel Toyota in Baltimore MD. Charles Wicks was the best and easiest to work with! Be sure to mention my name!
Hi guys, I'm thinking about getting a PIP since my old Prius got into a unfortunate accident that totaled it, everyone was fine however. I'm a little behind the curve as I was not planning to replace the Prius for another decade.... Does buying a PIP from east coast still get a 150K mile warranty on the traction battery? Or does the sale actually need to happen in CA? Seeing all the talk about the 6.5K deals on the east coast has sparked a huge interest!
It is valid no matter where it is purchased as long as it is registered in a CARB state. I called Toyota on this when I purchased mine.
There are very few '12 Base models left. Most of what you find with the big TFS subvention incentives are the AT model. That is what I got with only a $ 4K incentive. Absolutely no regrets. Every time I investigate the Volt, Fusion or Honda--I go through a cycle of wondering if I made the right choice. Then I look at all the factors and the way I drive and I realize I would make the same decision all over again. The incentives will be ending soon. If you want a Advanced model with just a small premium, now is the time to make your move. Maybe too late if you are picky about color.
Question. IYHO is the price of the advanced package worth the differential from the base. Are people still snagging discounts on the '12 PIP where dealers have them sitting next to '13?
at MSRP, i don't think it's worth it. at the discounted price, where the price differential from base was only $3-4k, I think it was worth it.
For those still looking, Toyota of Turnersville offered me the price they gave Robby100 (but add a $299 doc fee to the price). However, they then screwed me by selling both their blue cars after we already had a deal by email. They still have a couple of cars in other colors, but buyer beware. Maguire Toyota in Ithaca also offered me a similar overall price (taking into account that they only have a $75 doc fee) but they don't have my color. Seemed very honest though. Note that this selling price is around $38,200, which is what KBB.com says is the dealer invoice. Neither dealer was willing to do a dealer trade at this price, since it apparently messes up their dealer reserve incentives.
Only $3,000 or $4,000 Even at that discount I don't think it is worth it. I find the headlights on the base to be great. I will be upgrading the speakers myself come spring (maybe add an amp if I am not satisfied with just speaker upgrade). I use Android for navigation. I find the cloth seats more comfortable and don't have to worry about stains. Don't think I really need any other features. Still it is up to you to ask. How often do you drive at night, how much do you use the cruse control do you have other things to spend 4,000 ($7,500 2013) on? Maybe use that $7500 to upgrade to the Gen 4 in a few years.
For me personally, the HUD, DRCC, LED lights, and better nav make it worth it. The EV Entune apps are a nice touch as well. SafetyConnect, though I hope to never use, is nice insurance for peace of mind.
Today Turnersville Toyota added a $695 LoJack charge several hours after a pre-incentive price of $38.419 was agreed upon this am. Bumped me up with dealer add-on LoJack to $39.1. It ain't terrible, but has anyone else been post-price-agreed-on LoJacked at a dealer? The LoJack is listed on the vehicle's sticker webpage but not as a priced add-on with the other add ons or as part of the total price. I was at work and not in the mindset to dicker, but it didn't sit well today.
Ok here's my deal. I picked up my AT 2012 + CF ($40,545 msrp) today: $38,400 sales price + $75 garbage doc fee -$6,500 TFS incentive -------------------------- $31,975 + ttl @ 0% 60 mos. (will also save the $2,500 Fed Tax Credit and $1,500 CVRP Rebate) This was New Rochelle Toyota. Review of experience: There was no bait and switch, they stayed true to their word on the terms of the deal. However two complaints (the second one is the big one). 1.) It took way too long to get everything done at the dealership at 3+ hours. But now that they know how to do CA deals maybe it will be faster for the next person. 2.) They sold me a PiP with a DEAD 12v battery - which has caused all kinds of stress and twists to my travel plans. It only had 3 miles on it and has obviously been sitting around for months. They had to jump it once at the dealership - should have been my red flag. After I left the dealership, I had to get a jump from roadside assistance after making a pitstop. I drove it to another Toyota dealership which will hopefully get a new 12v battery in there tomorrow and it will be good to be shipped. This could easily have been avoided if they were more careful about the condition of the car. Pretty disappointing to have to take a brand new car you just picked up immediately into service. You can ask for Nate (mgr) or Mohammed (sales guy) and tell them Jason referred you. They still have a few left. MAKE SURE THE 12v BATTERY ISN'T DEAD folks. Most of these 2012s have been sitting around for months now.
^ CoolJW. Congratulations on a great purchase and what should turn out to be a great car for you. Hope a new battery solves your woes. You worked hard for it. A note. I went to test a PIP at Carson Toyota yesterday and there were 8 or more PIPs in a row. Chilly (great salesman) grabbed 6 keys before he found one fob to a car that didn't have a dead battery. First 6 tries and all the PIP were dead no door open nada. He jumped one with the portable jumper - nada. Is this a PIP issue? Does the PIP need to be hooked up to a trickle charger? Can't believe that Toyota doesn't want 13s on the lot. A row of unsold 2012 PIPS in the first week of February just doesn't make a positive statement for Toyota. They are going to have to give incentives to CA buyers or those PIPs are going to be sitting on the Carson lot until May.
Personally, I'd dump their nice person. There are a lot of PIPs out there in NY, NJ and CT, especially if you aren't picky about color. I now have a done deal at $38,000 + $400 fee, with mats and a free bumper appliqué, from Stephen AutoMall Centre in Bristol, CT. Also had an offer of $38,244 plus about $350 in fees, with mats, from Dorschel Automotive Group in Rochester, NY.
congrats! sorry to hear about the trouble, but unfortunately, doesn't really surprise me… lol yeah. I was at the Berkeley Toyota dealer the other day test driving a RAV4 EV. Three cars total, one of them is the "fleet vehicle" and parked next to their L2 charger, the other two parked to the side and both completely dead. Goes to show you how often they get driven…and what a crappy job they are doing of keeping these cars ready to go for sale. All they have to do is plug the car into an outlet once a week…for 10 minutes…and it would be done.
You just described my recent purchase. It was a fleet vehicle and the battery was dead as a doornail and sitting next to their Level 2 charge station. lol I had to crawl in the hatch to pop open the liftback. They agreed to put a brand new 12v battery in before selling it to me. The dealer was great, however. Now if I can just get the hard water spots off my windows.
