    I think you meant "60 MPG" but this makes sense:

    • straight gas - higher energy content compared to ethanol
    • higher octane - lets the engine tune for high power settings
    I suspect you'd have gotten similar performance with 89 octane. Regardless, the heart of the scientific method is to 'run the experiment.'
