pre order of Prime

In an early post I noted that I learned too late that the Prime rollout in all 50 States was well...staged. If I had it to do over I would have done similar, in my case got on a plane and made the drive. With any luck delivery is two weeks out which is not too long. Congrats on the new Prime!

 

Hooray, spring arrivals! Just enough time left to watch Prime videos and read the 1200 or so pages of manuals.

 

MNdriver, was/is May still your date of delivery? Hope so...I want to get your thoughts on having a Prime. I feel like I left you behind when I dropped out of the Midwest "fly over" Support Group.

 

I have been given those same arrival dates for my red Premium model that I ordered March 6th. Originally told 3 to 4 months but couldn't order one here in Washington State before March 2nd. I think cars for us here in WA come into Portland, OR and I'd think those going to MN would also enter the States in Portland rather than CA. Maybe ours will be together on the same ship?

 

Yes, May 15-19 is ETA. And it wasn't easy being left behind when you left the group!

You'll get my thoughts on owning a Prime at the first middle-of-the-USA Prius Meetup that you Nebraskans are going to organize.

 

I just got the following email note from my salesman at Foothills Toyota in Burlington, WA. It does sound like my car will be here between May 15th and 19th.

Hi Dick,

Your Prime is built and began its voyage here two days ago. It will be here right around the 15th. I think it is supposed to arrive at the port around the 8th. As soon as it gets processed I will have a clearer picture. Its getting close and I am excited for you. You will be the first customer to get one from Foothills Toyota.

Well, that meeting won't be this week. We have blizzard warning out in Nebraska. Can you believe that. NUTS !!!!!

 

Hey, upnorth, I heard from my rep that delivery date has been moved forward to May 8-12. Have you heard anything more about yours? Still think we're on the same train?

Just came from dealer, train arrived St Paul area 05/03. My delivery is also moved up to between the 6th & 9th. Good news!

 

Exciting! I'm waiting for one in the Chicago area. Was told May 17 - 24th a few weeks back. I'll need to check in with my salesman for an update. Thanks for posting this.

Mine gets to Chicago May 12th. Dealer will have it on 13-17th. He has a list of people who want to see it when it comes in. I got a Vin number too!!!

Let us know when it comes in. Did you order it in any specific way (special color, combo, etc?) Just wondering why the wait, it seemed that the general combo/color packages can be found at So Cal dealers (I know for my choice of trim and color, 4 different dealers within 2 hours of me had them in, I visited 3 of the dealerships, went home with one of them after first getting an Edmunds quote). Though if I had wanted a different exterior color with the moonstone interior I would have had to special order. I haven't even checked, has the SoCal $1000 Toyota cash back stuck around for May? Or is it more or less now?

Helpful hint: make sure the dealer takes off all the stickers before you leave (there's so many of them on the windows), like the the XM sticker, the parts content country sticker, etc. Mine left two of them on, didn't realize at the time, went to the local dealer to have them taken off right.

On a side note... my license plates came today!! (Which means I just mailed out my HOV sticker request. Still about 1.5 years left before they expire here in Calif, so why not). Back 12 years ago the gold stickers were $8. The green ones are $22. Inflation?

 

Get there early and charge those people who want to see it a buck each.

 

I do want a very popular combo. The Premium in Blizzard Pearl with Black Interior. Also I want to do business with the same person I've bought numerous cars from already. Plus this place has carpool stickers waiting for me when I buy the car. The offer for may from Toyota is the same as April.
