Possible solution to the ugly "Bone China" trim

Now that you mention it, I vaguely remember something about a shifter appliqué on the window sticker of my Model 2 ECO. There was no charge for it, and I can't tell it's there. The white 'accents" on the steering wheel are so unremarkable that I didn't even notice them until yesterday. But then I don't suffer from the white phobia that afflicts so many here.

CORRECTION: I found the window sticker and it lists $55 for the black shifter appliqué, I suppose it was added at the port. Sorry!

I'll hazard a guess: your eco and your alter eco? Or altar eco?

 

Depending on my mood, I can drive the black one or the white one...

Mystery solved. It must be the the center was black, and just the shifter was white. In any case, the dealer changed the shifter to black no charge for me.

Okay, this is where things get confusing (and thanks for clarifying). The shifter area is white on all models, unlike the large console between the seats, which is flat black plastic on Twos, metallic white "bone china" on Threes and Fours. The applique kit for the Three and Four covers both the shifter area and the entire center console, but there is also a one-piece applique kit for the Two that only covers the shifter area. (I'd add that the shifter applique blends right in with the glossy black on the rest of the dashboard with practically no white peeking through, doesn't look out of place at all, one doesn't even notice it).

So mystery solved.

The third item in either of the first or second pictures here; does it show the cover for the white part of steering wheel?

No. The center console is covered by two pieces.

 

Arggghhhh. Maybe I'll just tape a daily "To Do" list there. On black paper.

 

Least the white parts blend OK with folks who have moonstone interior.

1. The Two's steering wheel isn't Softex, but it does have the same white scoop for a bottom spoke as the Three and Four.

2. As noted elsewhere in this forum, offering a large applique to stick on the steering wheel would expose Toyota to some serious liability. For the company that got screwed to the wall over sliding floor mats, that is not happening. We'll just have to learn to love our wheel-puppy's panting white maw.

 

Too funny. I would have preferred that new red as interior accents.

Volt has lite color dash. Nice.

 

Perhaps try vinyl wrapping the steering wheel part. Must be worth a shot eBay sells those 3m 4d vinyl s cheap.

Actually like the MoonSshine. But would like red interior as an option. My old 55 Chev convertible had red and white exterior and interior.

I have an appliqué set that I am not going to install if anyone is interested.

 

Just curious, but why did you not want it?

Difficult to install, or just decided you don't like the look?

If I can put it on, anyone can!

 

I just don't think it "adds value". I like the look of the white pieces on the white car.
